Leics (formally N.W.)
Club 4 was a bit of a toilet, with a shafted PA but the buzz was amazing in there! Plenty of gurnin to be had from all concerned :axe:  :fekked:

Claire, youre right the Pleasuredrome did go very hard towards the end and never really kicked off like the other clubs, too many beer heads for a start along with the usual gansta attitude!

Ahh some Quad heads?

Claire, I remember a crew from wrexham, maybe it was you??? Also used to go to the Pleasuredrome in Birkenhead...
Followed by a spell at either Eastham ferry or Hamburger hill.

The final new year at the Quad was awesome... was anyone else there?

Innit Claire how top was that night!!!
Remember the NYE with the indoor porta loos(baaaad idea):| :S

God yes the indoor porta loos!
Does anyone ever remember one night when it was so hot that every person was really sweating and sweat was dripping off the ceiling. (nice!) and the bouncers wouldn't open any fire doors. it was soooo hot!!
It was quite early on 1993 i think, there were 2 podiums, one on each side of the front of the dance floor.

The Bowlers queue was a classic queue. One new year we queued in the snow and I swear to god the snowflakes were the size of footballs. Everyone was in shorts and all sorts of summer type clothing! cold but a great atmosphere!!!
:axe: :axe:

I HAVE TO DISAGREE

untill the booze arrived that was.
yep for me bowlers died that day, saturday the 7th september 1996(think i remember or what)

na the booze didn't bring bowlers down

its was the shit 'asylum' happy hardcore
THAT DISLODGED BOWLERS

bowlers started going downhill on a normal 'house' night
but the 'asylum' was rammed, the crowd changed

the maturer crowd (ie. maturer music appreciaters) moved on
and then the younger generation only wanted to listen to HH

PLEASE NOTE this is my honest opinion (if ya want an arguement start a new thread)

then the scallies which asso with the dodgiest of music
and the loudest fastest stuff they can play in their RS.TURBo's
when driving around some rough estate
'We aRE HARDCORE' (springs to mind)

the promoters saw this change as good
unfortunately the house night's where lost forever

(the then promoter 'ugh i've bloody forgotten his name'
the guy who always had a shirt, long blond/yellow hair, and had his dad (who was the licensee) with him

he stepped down

paul (aka dj demand) took the helm
coming from kinetic and donny warehouse
He knew his hardcore and really set the ball rolling for the mental nuthouse that was called the 'asylum'

then i think (a few years on possibly late 97) it was realised h.hardcore ws going down hill (hard house was taking over)

so the events went into rooms , inc the the retro/ult revival type room

then house nights came back on the menu

but by this time , time had moved on and so had the buzz

ME personally and my mates prefered the ultimate revival nights
and in 1998 we saw nipper an amazing 28 times

a few off my best mates Paul (a proper bald head) everyone knew him in bowlers and Tim 'aka i know every fucker in bowlers' (6ft5 tall)kippax sat on the front blowing his bloody whistle)

paul now laughs when he plays an old asylum tape
'and says what the fuck where we doing'
I was like 'don't asso me with your shit'

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Final point why the fuck did they change the club logo
i loved watching the scallies show off their rs turbo/xr2i
with the club logo emblazoned on their boot are steering wheel

The new logo's shit
and now marshall the builders use the logo

And Spet was a bad bad day, I remember waiting to get in on the day of the big announcement, deep down we all knwe it was going to be beer but I think all true ravers hoped against all hope that it was going to be something else

So who are you then?

:( :( I think you are totally right mate, as soon as the started having hardcore nights the whole atmosphere changed. I spent many an Asylm night hiding in the VIP room!!.

The house nights were never as busy after that and all the old crowd drifted away. I found myself at Gatecrasher where I met loads of the old Bowlers crowd again! (even that place is shit now though)

The promoter was called Matty Piper and he was really good at his job until the management Jason & his dad told him to organise hardcore nights and he sort of lost the will to live!!!

Apparently they changed toe sign to the DNA swirl because they wanted to market new jackets, t shirts ect and they wanted to give the image a make over. I personally prefered the sperm round the egg logo (not a sun as some people thought!!) I thought that logo was really clever as it was in a nut shell creation of LIFE.

I will get off my soap box now and go and get some breakie!!!!

ar cheers for those names

bloody heck

cheers for the names

I remeber mat well

I used to argue to shit with him
He use to always say i wasn't on the guest list
i think the best night for me

was when we'd been to the oldskool event at rise in sheffield on the friday night
How awesome was nipper

we'd then gone to the services i went home got a shower went to work till 5.30 went straight to bowers for an ult revival
and had a massive argument cos he said we wheren't on the guest list

anyway we got a £45 refund at 1am

haahhahaah

i then was behind the decks and a bit bolloxed nipper pushed us over the decks as the last tune was to play
the light went on shining on me and massive cheers erupted
i looked down and the wqaves of people where going nutz

the tune started and i a little worse for wear
hid and then jumped on the dancefloor

and had a boogie

TOP TOP night

Those were the days wearing shorts and a bandana to go out on a Sat night.

i did hear about Wayne I was at his funeral I had known him since I was 5 after all!!

Do me a favour and send me a mail and I'll send you my mobile number to give to Mel I was thinking about her the other day and wouldn't mind chatting to her

I would come to Vibalite but unfortunatly don't realy have anybody who'd be up for coming
