Review from 'Dance Department' Magazine Issue 2 (April 1990)
Fever Nightclub grew out of Scotland's longest running dance club, The Bang Club. After years of subletting the guys behind the beat, Jim Rennie and Mike Grieve finally acquired their own premises. The Bang Club was innovatory in its musical direction (the first club in Scotland to play House, circa 1986!) and Fever continues the high standards it set.
The Bang Club, on a Saturday night, features DJs Jacqui Morrison, Jim & Mike, playing the hardest sounds around. Each of the other nights now has its own distinct styles - Thursday is dub freestyle: an indie/dance/rap affair with King Elvrok, Tich and Dzee-De. Fridays (from April 1990) is hardcore club night, sponsored by Hardcore Jeans, featuring live acts, fashion shows, drinks promos, and essential club sounds from Jacqui and Jim. Sunday night is chocolate pussy, a bit more laid back rockin' to the grooves of Jacqui and Mike (plus guest DJs such as Graeme Park and Mike Pickering).
The past year has seen fever rise to the top of the club scene, with visiting acts raving about the atmosphere and crowd (Adamski, Mr Monday, Double Trouble, Baby Ford) and aficionados travelling from as far afield as London and Manchester. The music, decor, bar prices, everything is run by DJs (a unique set up) who owning the club, know where it's going. Fever is the club for the 90'.
