The little mp3 sample snipnet of TRAX 150 on Hard To Finds site is the same mix as the original Trax release (TRAX T3).
To be honest it's probably a better recording because the wanker who owned Trax was an ultra cheap skate and used to use ground up old records to make new records so the quality was shit. I certainly know mine is far from tip top even though the vinyl doesn't appear scratched.

Up North, pint o tetley
this track was made in 1985, released a few years later

like jonno says the quality is shite as are all trax releases

it was also badly edited cutting off the first few seconds (3-4 seconds ) at the start of the track

Be careful mail ordering those Trax represses, if in doubt try and have a listen to em first.

I say this cos I went into HTFR a few weeks back and they had em all in - and there in front of me was Virgo 4 - In a Vision which I've been after for ages on vinyl. I had a listen to it and the quality was absolute bollocks

I think they are mastered off the dodgy old trax releases on recycled vinyl rather than off the master tapes, a completely pointless exercise really.

Good point raised there by Mike, and whatyadoinsucka ...... tis a true point you made about the little glitch 3 seconds into a the song, but I still say this is a tune worth having

True it is a re-pressing, but then again it was never pressed in the first place ( Even though it is considerd the first ever house music tune )

Still....... I have had a copy of this for a while now, and I always get a good responce when I play it out

Appart from the little (3 second in) glitch, this record is a piece of history in the making.....and well worth having

Talking about this tune, does anyone have any onfo on the bootleg with 'candi staton - you got the love' acappella slapped over the top?

Not the dodgy source remake in 1991.

I read in an old mixmag article in their top 100 that it was DJ eren who slapped it together back in 89 and only 1,000 copies made ??

"38) Candi Staton "You Got the Love" (The Love Bootleg)
(Best mix: The illegal one)

We're not really interested in the original version Candi sang in 1986. Well, maybe the acappella. And we're not really interested in the smoothed out house version that got to the top ten. What we're interested in is the dodgy bootleg that DJ Eren from top Sunday club Solaris (later Kinky Disco) knocked up back in 1989, and turned into the biggest underground record in the country. Only a thousand copies were pressed up and every DJ in the country was chasing after it. Sometimes you feel like throwing your hands up in the air. And that's exactly when you want to hear this record."

I know nipper has a copy (heard him play it at the leadmill in 97) and one of the hacienda ressies played it too.

The original "True Love" bootleg of 1000 copies had a flower on the centre of the record (similar to the one on cover of the React release). But then there became bootlegs of bootlegs which were just white labels - these still used to change hands for sizable amounts of cash - in fact it used to be £15 for a brand new copy.

I'm not too sure there's that much difference to this version and the "Eren's Bootleg Mix" on the True Love EP released on React. I think it's more a case of Mixmag journo's being up their own arses.

What I always wondered is what release of Frankie Knuckles has got the instrumental of Your Love on?

I've got the original bootleg (although i am not sure that it is not a bootleg of the bootleg:axe: ) - it is pretty similar to the source - except the source version is a re-recorded version of your love (pretty well done imho) with the original Candi vocal over the top - what you miss on the source version is quite a bit of Jamie Principles ad libbing which comes in after about 2 mins - and of course the music underneath is the original frankie knuckles and not a remake

It's quite an interesting one this. lastnightadj, thats definately the version i've heard. it's basically 'your love' with the acappella of candi staton slapped over the first half of the record.

Maybe thats the bootleg mixmag are on about. But whether that story is true or not...

Maybe the instrumental is justa cut up/ looped up booty? But i'm sure i've heard that as well.

Talking about booties. 'Black box - everybody everybody' acappella over corina 'temtation' dark beats beatappella.

I heard this in the hacienda at one of the classics nights and it sounded mint, then on an old sequins video of a m8's.

Was it the Dj's mixing them together, was it a mix in its own right, or was it a booty ?/!

the way i heard it was that eren used to do the mix live at solaris - that is drop the vocal directly over the top of your love (which has a long build up anyway) therefore the candi vox would probably have reached the end (btw if you have heard the candi accapella it starts of quite sparse and then builds up with some dodgy keyboard parts) by the time jamies vocal came in -

I reckon that they re-edited the tune themselves when they did the bootleg just keeping the ad libs - actually without listening to it for a while I cannot remeber if the full jamie vox does come in on the bootleg

As far as i know there was no instrumental version of your love released -

BUT - there is a version that came out before the trax verion that is credited as Jamie Principle - Your Love - saw this on EBAY about 12 months ago and havce to admit that it looked very interesting--as i remember there was a variety of mixes including an accapella - and i am sure that the seller mentioning that it had some rhodes piano in it - have not heard it myself but it sounds cool - anyone heard this version

but has 'hate' or 'rock n roll' on one side and 'love' on the other
written

i can't think what at the moment, just acca's over nice garage instrumentals

Thats weird!

Nipper actually gave my mate that tape. 'Kites' at the start where he scratches the 'arrrrrrrghhhh' intro of kites in with 'the house that jack built accappella. Top quality recording as well.

He did this mix this at a recording studio in manchester whilst me m8 was also recording some rock crap.

And yeah, them rise nights were fuckin belters! Can always remember the place being packed and the whole stage stampeding at the end for 'ONE MOOOORRRE !' LOL
