Got in early doors. Caught about an hour of Bucky's set. Quality warm up style tunes. Very, very nice... (pm'd you for a cheeky id fella ;) )

Thought the venue was spot on. An underground car park.. If anyone's ever parked at the GMex it was like that but with a higher roof. (Oh and hacienda striped blocks suspended from the ceiling, 2 bars, a vip area, dance platforms, 2,000 people, Mike Pickering and Graeme Park and a f**k off sound system and lighting rig...:p ). The lighting especially was superb. Bucky - you need some brighter strobes mate.... Made a point of standing at the back and watching it every time I went for a water refill - class...

Down the front most of the night. Parky started with Gwen Guthrie's 'Seventh Heaven' and I thought I was going to sex wee....Carly Simon's "Why", some Soul 2 Soul - quality downtempo stuff, right up my street.

I thought Mike Pickering was amazing early on - Brooklyn Funk Essentials - Change The Track!!!!!   phones: arrrrr yeeeeah! and he really got me going with some stuff I'd never heard mixed in with some classy Electro stuff. I've said before he's one of my all time fave DJ's and I think he might get slated for stuff he played later on, but a massive, massive  for playing such a wide range of tunes.

I left about 1.30ish I think. Mainly because I was so knackered after NYE and my legs just couldn't dance anymore, but also because P&P were disappointing at times, too much 90's vocal garage for me, especially from Parky. But thats just my taste in tunes and they've got to cater for 2,000 people for 8 hours and play music to define an era from '82 to '96. Dancing like a loon to "Hip Hop, Don't Stop", "Dreamgirl" and "Can U Dance" and then having a rest for Mariah Carey and Judy Cheeks took its toll so I took the risk that the last 2 and a half hours would be much the same. Lol - I said to BlueJammer that they'd play sommat to make me regret my decision as I was walking out....on came Kechia Jenkins - "I Need Somebody" :fekked: :naughty: - b*stards....LOL.

Overall I had a top night - thanks sooo much to Bluejammer, SJ, Northern Star & MC Maddox (great to see you fella - get ur bum to Hazy again soon  :) ) for their hospitality  . Fab to meet Bucky and Konspiracy's lady. Loads of OSAers out - won't name all in case I miss anyone but it was top to see everyone. In fact the first thing I said to Ruth when I got home when she asked how it went was that it was just great being out with some top, top people.

Happy New Year everyone. Here's to 2005 (and another Hac night??? eh Bucky??? eh??? EH??? goooo onnnn! - lol)

     Welll.... LoL it was like this for me from start to finish!! It were just all a wee bit random!!!

I am however sooooo grateful for the ticket from Woody for my birfday pressie! God bless Ya babe!

The venue really reminded me of the old Rain Dance Venue, underneath kings cross, with all of its "Arenas under an arch way" Type thing going on.... It was a hell of alot cleaner than Kings X's!!

All night long tho, I must admit I felt like I was walking around on a messed up fcuked fun house floor... It were bodering on very hard work on the actaul floor side of things.... We were nearly falling down and over each other on many occasions!! PMSL!!!

The lights knocked the living S*it out of me on many occasions and again I nearly fell on the floor Yet again!! LoL :S

The sound system at the front shook me lid of mint!! So good on yer for that! And Oh how we soldeired on.... and really did cut some shapes to some of the bad as you like funky arse choonz that were banging out!

The only thing that i kept saying all night long was "Thank Fcuk I have worn my Trainers" ;) cause walking, standing, dancing etc in heels would have put me in casuality last night!!!

It certainley was a Weekend work out... I'm really still aching and hurting like a mo fo from all of this weekends adventures!! Infact with all the ass shaking and dancing that we have entertained into ths weekend, well I still hurt right now... :S

Ive got to say that Ive never heard P&P dj before.... :S but Im not going to diss but to have a label of professional..... whatever! You boys & girls from off OSA put them to shame!!!

So thanx so much Hazy & Tribal and you guys that have shared it with me for making it such an extra special super weekend for me!!!

Big up yer chest Bucky!! Well done You! and thanx for all your troubles!

Happy 2005!

Right, here goes..

The good bits:

Walking in and seeing the layout for the first time, mart has already explained in his post, so I won't bang on about it, but a nice job with the layout etc..

Loved the way they kept asking the crowd if they wanted it LOUDER, and turned it up about 3 or 4 times, was booming by midnight, awesome sound at the front, but sadly lacking at the rear, should have had the same stacks at the rear, that was pretty poor, as when you went to the bar, the sound was poo and echoey.

In terms of tunes, it was nowhere near as good as the August one at Sankeys, and it would have been better at sankeys tbh, it was pretty cold at times..

Enjoyed a lot of class tunes, and had a really special moment when Sunscreem - Perfect Motion was dropped.

Was a nice remix of Voodoo Ray that seemed to last about 15 minutes, and a few other banging tunes I'd never even heard before, so hats off for digging deep in their collections.

The not so good bits:

Pickering seemed really on the ball with the tunes, and Park would come on and just kill the atmosphere by playing bloody awful garage tunes, fucking hell it was doing my head in. They both really did bounce off each other really well back in August, and I guess I was just expecting the same kind of thing again, but with different and better tunes!

It got absolutely freezing later on, and by 1-2am I was shivering and finding it hard to keep warm.

I only wished now I'd gone home with woody and everyone first when they all left. :|

The shit bit:

There were a group of asian lads at the front, and they just looked wrongly placed, danny commented on this, and later on sweet said that she'd had a bit of mither off one of them. I wasn't in the best of states :fekked: to be dealing with anything anyway, as it was bad enough trying to remember when vouchers were and how to work out how much I needed to get a drink at the bar, but back at the front where I was stood, minding my own, one of the asian lads, for no reason I can work out, decides to threaten me with a scalpel, telling me he's gonna do me. Now when your tripping the last thing you need is any kind of violence to deal with, and I couldn't get my head round why he'd picked me, as I reckon I was probably the least threatening person there! It immediately sent my head really wrong and I just said to him "If it makes you happy, do it" as what else could you say to that? It was the look in his eyes that I'll never forget, and thankfully he backed off and that was that.

Got back home safe and continuted to get twatted, but it's only since I've woke up and thought about it that it hit home what could easily have happened, and that could have been it for me, game over.

Doubt I'll be going out for a while now as that has really fucked my head up

Gutted

8 of us had tickets for this but none of us made it. :(

Plan was to 'take it easy' on NYE. Obviously didn't happen and we'd had no sleep, etc and in the end we gave up. Sounds ace in the main apart from the arseholes Blue Jammer encountered.

Got there @ 8.15, straight into the venue - which was great as the freezing weather outside would of killed the atmosphere if we'd have had to wait long.

(after the motion sickness journey from Bradford!)

Went straight onto the dancefloor & began bopping to some really early house music, to be honest I never checked who was playing at that moment.

From there on in most of the night was a blurr, I rememebr the 3 of us dominated a really great dancing spot towards the left of the DJ near the portaloo's!

Was warm enough, yet not too sweaty hot - the sound was amazing from the articulated lorry & the people around were dead friendly, I literally danced for 8 hours non stop!

Saw Butty once, but couldnt find him later so I could have a proper chat with the OSA crew.

re the Asian lads, I shook about 10 peoples hands that were around me throughout the night - a couple of them were the 'group' of asian lads around the speaker area at the front left - they seemed friendly? So sorry to hear that though Bluejammer, if i'd have seen that happen I'd have been straight in for you!

My favourite moment was Voodoo Ray That tune came from no-where & fired through everyone there - lasted around 15 minutes, the air was alive with happiness, the lights were going at full pelt & i'll rememebr that moment in time for ever.

Not going to comment on DJ'ing ability - only that I preffered the tunes that were played upto 12 more than after then? The first 4 hours were amazing.

Thanks for organising this event Bucky - is there another one in the pipeline?

Yooo

What an amazing weekend - both NYE and NYD were full on!

Big HI to everyone I met on the night : Woody, Mart (thanks for the props and I'll find that track
thumbsup.gif
), Danny, Butty, Northern Star, SJ, SJs bro, Pauly P, person sat next to Pauly P :D oops (Sweet Sensation?), Shabba and the anyone else that I may have met and forgot. Sorry. Nice to put faces to the names.

Gemma's right - Tribal Gathering staged and produced the events, I just helped out promote and organise tickets etc for peeps and played a few records :D

Sorry to hear what happened to you Bluejammer - you should have alerted security or a member of staff straight away. I didn't hear of or encounter any trouble on any of the nights.

I'll post up more about NYE and NYD with some pictures in the week! need to catch up on the sleep.

Happy New Year!

Bucky.

Annuver stormer.

Can`t beleive we all made it to part 2 ;)

:) Pickering was ace but he should dump Park and get Jon Da Silva or someone who isnt gonna kill the mood with the bucketheads or Barbara Tucker - - Can`t beleive he did that, especially with a back to 89 logo flashing up on the screen behind him.
Never liked Park TBH as he always favoured the "washboard garage" as enjoyed by the poncy leather trouser / biker boot brigade :(
I was scared he would do that last year at Sankeys but he kept to the true choons then and thats why the last one was so much better.

The venue was ace, the lights were ace, the system bangin`, the people top as usual, drinks were stupidly priced (glad I drove), cloak room and staff were stupid, Pickering a legend (even though he spawned the m-people) and Parky was a big headed poncy doylem.

biggest downer was hearing about BJ`s experience. No need for scabby twats in a scene like this :(
Hope it doesnt hinder any future nites out for ya fella.

Tunez of the nite :

Cut the Q - Who needs a love like that
A guy called Gerald - Voodoo Ray - that ace remix
Brooklyn funk essentials - Change the track
Last night a DJ saved my life (WTF was that version?)

a minter of a night

was well up for this one from the moment we left hazydayz the night before :mexican: and as soon as we entered the impressive venue you knew it was gunna be funded with mint tunes all night long with classy warm up baleric stylee tunes like 'ask - dream' being whacked on, as well as a couple of classy electribe tracks .... the lighting was superb, and deffo added to the night loads :cops: as bluejammer already mentioned, the sound was made better by being turned up regularly to be booming by midnight, although i agree, the sound wasnt the best everywhere in the venue, which limited peeps to cramming into the main arch and then into the arches either side with the other areas being left quite empty ...... still no complaints, as when you needed a breather or the bar there was plenty of space to mooch in ......

the beer/alcohol prices were ridiculous thou .... £3.50 for half a pint (a pre-poured bottle of bud in a half pint glass), i mean what the hell was that about  even the major festivals like homelands etc can still sell pints at no more than £3 which is better for everyone :p anyways that was the only downer point to a wicked night .....

when parky first came on he hit us hard with wicked hacienda classics that got everyone goin .... (tunes already mentioned like carly simon, mantronix, white lines etc etc), and pickerings first shift was immense too  too mant mint tunes to mention early on, with lots of sweeeeet electro which was nice  that version of lastnightadjsavedmylife sounded more electro-ey than baleric to me, but was indeed mint as fuck  claps and bleeps then into nothing but the vocal i remember ..... as they interchanged they brought in the different areas of house style by style, but it was always pickering who brought in the more varied stuff .... apart from i must admit, a mint half an hour session where parky played nowt but pre-1990 acid with 'can you feel it' getting whacked in etc ..... but i agree, there was no need for all the 1994 bullshit house (that i could have made it was that boring i might add) .... there was also a point where he mixed in a shite as feck piono garage tune, then he just whacked the deck straight off alsmost as soon as he'd mixed the track in .... so i thought he was gunna start with a nice tune to get the crowd goin again, but instead he just started the same tune he'd just stopped from the very begginning .... what was that about again? hehe

anyways as the night went on the tune selection got more and more varied and was wicked in parts but not so in others ...... blackriot - justr make that move, njoi - anthem, a guy called gerald - voodoo ray, phase II - reachin (nice latin workout remix  ), seduction - two can make it right, nicole - rock the house (from the very start i might add  ) etc etc were all played amongst other countless classics, so that was all good :D

the select group of asians at the front were annoying it has to be said .... there were times when i'd look over at shabba and see some of em givin her hassle or moving their hands in her direction for instance, which i deffo didnt like ..... to be honest, i think the only reason they were there was to hassle the women which they did every time one went past .... coz they sure as hell didnt know what the feck they were listening to ;) hehe

had a wicked night and didnt stop dancing till quarter past 3 which is when my legs finally gave in after the last two nights's antics :S we did still have to hang on in the club to about 3.45 thou as vicki and biggy thought it would be funny to hide from us all as they wanted to stay for longer lol wouldnt mind knowing what the final tune was thou, if bucky or anyone could let us know

headed back swifty to vics place where we preceeded in getting shitfaced on vodca which led to us building a mega den, while watching he-man - masters of the universe .... which was fun  :D ;) stayed in manc for another day and finished new years nicely with a curry from one of the restaurants on the curry mile

shout outs to everyone who made it out on new years day - italian style, liquid e, biggster, vicki, sj, maddox, mart, bucky, northern *, bj, sweet, pauly, shabbs, butty, woody, cano, studman, konspiracy, and anyone else who was with us, soz if i missed anyone :$ :spin:

respect tribal  whens the next one then? its a credit to yas for puttin the hacienda (oldskool type) reuinions on .... coz peeps deffo wanna turn up for em, as everyone who turned up on new yearsd knew they wont gunna hear owt new whatsoever

whos up for andy wetherall on friday then ? :D  :p :hubba:

Danny

and imo another testament to Pickering's thought that he'd put into his tune selection.

Would love to know the Voodoo Ray remix too - pretty sure he played the original mix first followed by a "really deep acidicly twisted vocal version" - well, thats what I'd have named it anyways...phones: tune + a half.

Was Manchestoh, Now Yorkshire
Have to agree with the comments made previously, Park reverted to his
"plod-a-long" reputation at points during the night, which was very disappointing, as I was expecting a similar set to the night in August, which was heavily 86-91, with the odd exception..

Must say though, the venue was fantastic, at one point I was stood at the front of the stage when Pickering (?) played So In Love With You and all the lights came on, loads of hands in the air, cheering, top stuff.. :)

Shame about those lads, they were a right bunch of clueless cocks, didnt realise they threatened you BJ, tits, one of em looked about 11, as menacing as a skidmark

Top tunes:

Cut the Q, Charles B - the PROPER version, Nicole, Seduction, Black Riot, DJ Pierre, the quality mix of Voodoo Ray, Company 2, Testone - what a reaction that got.., Fast Eddie, Keicha Jenkins and a few more I cant remember because I was pissed :D

Top to see loads of people out again, must get to Hazydays in the New Year at some point :)

Finally, Nice one Bucky for sorting it out, top effort, will deffo be purchasing one of those albums that are to be released

I think it might have been the same mix that I heard Sneak play a few months a go at the club - which I'm sure he is behind ... ;)

Yeah had a top night, what the feck was going on with the asians tho, dicks. One of them was being sound with me anyway proberly tryin to get in my pockets lol j/k. Really enjoyed the music and i know what everyones sayin with park cos it did get borin when he'd start playin the garage. Never the less 15 mins later and it would be buzzin again.Had I really good time and sound seeing all the osa peeps! Drinks were a piss take in price tho completly. I can remember one time they poured me one and the half a pint plastic cup was half filled with froth, she looked at me expecting me to take it,no chance for £3.50 you can fill it to the top love. Oh yeah one more thing, as cheryl was in hospital I had to try and sell a ticket and the person who wanted it didnt want it in the end, so when approching the warehouse a man and a women approched me, the guy came first and said he'd give me £15 i said 'no chance i paid £20 for it' then the women goes ill give u £25 at this point the guy was pushing the £20 in front of me going 'ok ok £20 being proper pushy as the women was a few yards away being silent. As i paid £20 for it i agreed with the guy as he was well takin the piss, the second i gave it him he went to the girl and sold it for £25, prick. :(

MMMMMMMMMMMM Tunes of the night for me, Carly simon, Royal House, Kenny Jammin Jason, K Jenkins and that mint mix of last night a dj saved my life that was mint.

Jearrrrrrrrrr
