You're always going to miss your roots, just like anything else, but thats not a reason to stay put in the same place all your life, whats the point of that? what new experiences will you ever have then? What new people would you meet? Life would just blurr into one long period of the same routine, futile methinks!!!

Its all about getting out there, living in different places, cultures, climates etc imo, gathering as many experiences as poss, I want to keep moving around all my life, i'd hate to put a block on myself like my parents & mortgage a house with the mind set that this is where i'm going to live & die end of story, BORING!!

But yeah, theres no place like home, or rather, your parents house :gigolo:

Aye , agree with that..Done a far bit of moochin around me and as soon as i get fed up , im lookin for a nu place to go. Do miss certain things about home though..like going to the match , the pub and mad saturday nites, Curly Wurlys , Walkers salt n vineger square crisps ,pickled onion monster munch,Revels...but i get them all in when i go back and visit.

Life is what you make of it though, and there are many ways to experience things in life without having to permanently move for long periods. Love, laughter, pain, happiness, fulfilment, pride, sense of good citizenship, or whatever facets of life.

Some people go out there kind of looking for things, looking for things to tell them that they have found thier lives, and they sort of push from one thing to another always onto the next thing cos thats the thing thats going to make them happy and content and define a new era......then they get there (geographically or mentally) and after a whort while they find its actually something else they desire, and go off to do that.....and just continue doing that forever.

Other people may have discovered that to be happy, content and fulfil your desires and sense of belonging to this world, its about finding the real things in life which matter that are already there under your nose, and cherishing them.
Until you become aware that theres not always something 'out there' somewhere to experience to make you feel whole, and that its already in your heart and can be with your present circumstances if you just stop to look at things once in a while, then I feel that some people will never be settled with themselves.
You cant take experiences with you, just like money, when you die - all you can say is that youve lived a good life, been good, been loved and given love, enjoyed yourself, and theres many ways to achieve this feeling without being a nomad, its just down to perception.

Staying in one place is boring, I fully agree, and I wouldnt want to do that either. I may return to here where I live (circumstances and local situation permitting) after I have been somewhere else, and thats all I meant before, returning to the place you feel most at home, even though youve 'been there and done that' before.

Thats all very true, good points, anyone can be happy anywhere under any circumstances with the right mind set. I don't mean i'll travel around in search of happiness, just like you don't mean you'll stay in the same place searching for it, no need to stop doing anything once you have it, it has no limit. I mean i'll travel around BECAUSE i'm happy, to keep a flow of new experiences going to keep learning and interested. Obviously we're learning all the time anyway, i'm just not one for routine or long periods of repetitive activity, thats just what floats my boat anyway, each to their own.

And no you can't take experiences with you, you can't take anything at all with you, but how you achieve your 'good life' and 'love' is personal to your idea of what those things are, and if a person is content enough with the surroundings they already have to say that those are the surroundings they will spend the rest of their days living in happily enough without trying anything else then good for them. I would just personally feel like I was wasting my time a bit, once you've rinsed something of what it has to offer and what you have to offer it, be happy that you've achieved what you set out to, pack up your collection of fond memories and lessons learned, and jog on to the next chapter!

Not saying there is never a time to set up a permanent camp, but just not until you've checked out enough camps to see which one is where its at for you :D

I went back home the weekend just gone... just what the doctor ordered ;)

Would like to live / work abroad at some stage if possible but I know it would wreck my head how much I'd miss everyone :S

I also left home at 16 and started to work. Being expelled (twice) made my family decide it was time I moved out :)
Moved to Spain when I was 21 and yes I still get homesick although I'd rather say I get nostalgic, but not very often. Still I would recommend that everyone explores new horizons.

I moved out when I was 16...I was nt homesick, as I was sick of living at home.

Now when Im away from home for the weekend, it's nice to be back in my own surroundings, so I can fully relax, and Max out.

I'm not the homesick type really. I can detach from things quite well, and am self reliant...

was it not more like 17 loz???? lol
