Hazydayz Jan05

Another boss/mint (delete as appropriate according to your geographical location in the North West of England) weekend... :fekked:

Yet again Grover n his better half extended particular hospitality on the Friday night, so much so that we all got into the party mood a little too early and managed to get no sleep on the Friday/Saturday daytime... as Silky says, that sort of thing is another story... :| :fekked:  phones: ;) :p :p :p :eyebrow:  The trip into Liverpool (special shouts to the DevilKecks and Shaz oioi nutters!) on Sat morning to sort out sound system is another story as well :cops:  :fekked:      (too funny... I'll have to wait before I'm VIP'ed up before the full story can be printed).

So the scene is set for Hazy - meet up with the Hazy, Scouse and PR crew early on - regards to all, not gonna mention names as there's too many  oh, apart from Murfee (finally met you) and Sunshine (we met last Hazy, but you were enjoying the moment a little too much to remember  ) Wicked sets from all the dj's - place was packed as usual with smiling faces and the sound of giggles, general banter and the expected practical jokes and head wrecks that make Hazy what it is (who were the nutters in the baseball caps?)

Plenty OSAers there that I didn't get to meet - that was due to an inability to do nothing more than dance - and even then, thats a tenous description of my random movements on the dancefloor.

However, having said that... watched as Grover looked at the OSA Crew piccies on here when at his place - looks like everyone was blown away by the Hazy vibe eh? lol :fekked:  - is right. For me, Hazy is about being allowed to do more or less what you like, as long as you respect your fellow HazyDayzers. Clubbing in London can be a case of "be aware of your personal space" when you are a good country mile beyond full sanity, lest there's a shady character on your tail. You've heard the stories, and yes clubland is full of tw*ts willing to take a pop at you if you are in a state.

HazyDays doesn't have that issue - you can zone out to the music. I've not heard any girl say she felt threatened, nor a lad complain of moody punters. Maybe it's cos people feel safe as they know everyone who goes is 99.9% gonna be sound as f. Coupled with a security team that know the score, bar staff that are attentive, completely decent crowd  who might be noodled but have hearts of gold - maybe its the proper old school classics that are played month-in month-out? Dunno really, seems to make for a good night out whatever it is.

Repeats? Not a chance, every set has been as fresh as a daisy, every dj with their own style of selection and blend, as it should be - this is an old school club for old school people, we'll have no repeating here... Sound-wise? The bass upstairs was pretty cool :p

Lack of sleep got the better of me by 2am - non stop dancing from 9-2am cream-crackered me properly - gutted, as the place was kicking - note to self: no mental hangovers Friday morning and then no messy Friday nights before a Saturday HazyDayz.

Cheers for another great HazyDayz  The last Monday of February and me train tickets are already booked.

PS: shout to Oz and Co from DJS - two more Hazy converts? lol

Spread the Hazy vibe...

FAAAAAAAAAAKIN WOT

where could one start, lol. Well seeing as nobody else mentioned it WHAT A FUCKING SOUND SYSTEM upstairs, plutes / mart who ever you hired that system off.... they now gotta be ya main man lol, i never thoght there was out wrong with old system till i herd the quality of that, was so clear and loud it rely picked up all the tebblie / snare sounds and gave a real punch to feel of the night.....

and as for the tunes..... alapogys too all the down stairs dj .. sorry guys never herd any off it the tunes upstairs and sytem so good i whent down stairs 4 times all night.. lol.. 2 times to go for a pee and twice to go the bar

mic ya played a boss set and for me your tune of the night that "anialting rythem one"

tag stenght to stenght m8, gat & techno age and when you whent off the room droped (no offence pezz- ya just came in about 30bmp bellow tag - took attic crew 10-15 to reajust) but when room got heads round and gradualy piked up the bpm we got what ya was about if a bit slow to catch it soz.

annie what can i say you rule the roost, by far and awy the best set of the night by a galloping mile m8.

I felt the whole room go thro the roof when you came on, you realy wore ya coluors on ya shirt deep duuuurty dark detroit mmmmmmmmmmmm, lol the only tune i knew yad play was dream girl and that only cos pezz played it at hazy and you own the "hazy rights" to mix the arse out that lol and when pezz played it I knew if not already in annies set it is now . (just wished ya a droped video clash in there lol-jk-would av sounded great on that sound system)

Annie and one or two others will know what i mean when i say that sat upstairs felt like the bass camp, had that real underground slightly dark feel to it.

AND OH YESSSSSS HOW COULD ONE FORGET.............
Strobe upsraits next month WHOOOOOOP WHOOOOOOOP.... kin ell next month gonna be a heavy month for the cleaners ... well all be chudering lol j/k
£2 each from the attic crew regulars seems fair to thro in to pay for strobe aye guys? (not that its for me to say lol-but mic put tin or somat upstair next mounth for the strobe fund lol, i mean lets face it you charge little enugh on the door ffs, hazy is a non profit night its a night done for the love of it, and i for one would like to pay some of that back as it ware)

right thats enught messy (and fekk me am i messy) waafle from me till next month :D
love you all:love:

That is spot on, and that needs printing on all the flyers IMO :D

Possibly along with "Hazy, it feels like home" :king:

Tuesday morning, back in work and I can finally type.

I got into HazyDays at about 10.30 and was a very nervous boy. I didn't know where to put myself at first, in a new city, and a new club on my own. I felt like a 16 year old going to my first club again.

At about 11.30 I met S-J and things just kept getting better and better.

From meeting the fabulous S-J, I went on the most incredible, whirlwind adventure. I went from being self conscious and not knowing what to do with myself. To being introduced to the greatest bunch of friendly, welcoming and genuinely warm people I can possibly imagine. It was the perfect club experience.

For the life of me I cannot remember everybody’s names. I don't want to list the names that I can remember because I don't want to forget most of you. I will simply say that if I met you, it was a real pleasure and joy. You not only made me feel welcome, but also a part of the coolest group of people in the club. Thank you everybody.

HazyDays was everything I was told it would be. Top class crowd and atmosphere. The venue is awesome. So close and intimate. In the past I would always go to large clubs, and sometimes the experience felt "diluted". In Hazy Days the atmosphere is so real and really grabs you. I always felt like I was in the heart of the evening. The music was great and it was really nice to only recognise 10 or so songs but still enjoy everything that was played. The room upstairs was such a great little space, the sound was so raw!

I hope that I was as friendly and nice to meet as you all were. I also hope the rest of the evening / weekend rocked.

S-J you are an angel, thank you so much for looking after me.

I had the greatest evening imaginable and can't wait for the next time.

Best Set For Years...

Firstly I would like to thank everyone who went Hazy Dayz last Saturday for the first of 3 Beat's 15 Year birthday celebrations.

For me playing upstairs was incredible. By far the best gig I have had for years and years - I'm sure you all saw my cheesy grin! The crowd were very apreciative of anything and everything I did. Even some of the more obscure chicago and detroit records I played got really great reactions. I was little concerned going on after Tag who was belting it out at 133bpm but within a couple of tracks everyone seemed to have adjusted to the more reasonable house tempo of 123bpm. I am so glad that so many people enjoyed what I did too. From some of the messages posted it seems to have been one of the best nights at Hazy Dayz. Getting to play records I bought over 17 years ago that in some instances I have never played in a club environment to a crowd was mind blowing - it was almost as though they were all brand new! It took me back to a time when house was a feeling a not a commercial conveyorbelt of repetitive blandness...

Massive thanks you's to Pluto, Dreamgirl and the rest of the Hazy Dayz team for such a special occaission. One quick question 'WHEN CAN I COME AND DO IT AGAIN?'

For anyone who may be interested as the night was not recorded I am planning on re recording the set at home and getting some CD's made - anyone who want's one let me know.

All the best

I quite liked to Chicago house too, after listening to it a bit....also somone played this fuckin ace tune that somehow ive heard b4, I need to find out what it was called.....only problem is I'm me and cant remember how it goes!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it great, to have that freedom, where you CAN play the records that mean so much to you and a lot of other people

You made my night with one tune - Rhythm Doctor - Phuture :)

Can't wait to see you back at hazy, and put me down for one of those CD's, I'll send you my set from Hazy new years eve just gone in return :D
