Tonight im going to attempt my first baked cake!

Ive done none bake cakes like key lime pie which was a raging sucess and extremely delish but im stepping it up a notch and going for a full on chocolate sponge cream cake.

Getting right into this cooking malarcy of late

Just need to decide on the topping as im not too keen on icing!

I wanna make a chocolate cake - light sponge with a layer of choc butter cream in the middle and on the top as if it isn't double choc'd up it's too dry.

Well i think its turned out ok, ive put jam and fresh cream in the centre then covered the whole cake with choc buttercream and then poured a ganache over the buttercream. Let it settle in the fridge overnight and the dusted with icing sugar and cocoa powder and put some choc shavings on the top.

Looks really good but the proof is in the eating so i will let you know

Nice swan Debz shake those pots n pans.. I love cooking been baking cakes since I was a kid .... my ultimate pud ive made has got to be my Baileys cheese cake topped with crushed amaretti biscuits... took me a long time to perfect.... mmmmmm deelish..

Its great experimenting with food... have fun chick x

Yeah i adore cooking but ive never really done the cake thing :$ Well not since being a kid, but i wanted to put a little effort in and make Alex a birthday cake hopefully it will satisfy his sweet tooth requirements lol

Lmao i take it u like smarties then haha Ive never been a fan of smartie cant be doin with the crunchy stuff on um, only ever bought um as a kid cus we used play at popping the lid off with the tube and seeing who got it the furthest :$

I love Smarties Dont get me started on the tubes, some flamin halfwit at Nestle thought it would be good idea to make a flip up lid , takes the fun right out of Smarties. They have also reduced the colour range there used to be 10 now there is only 8

I emailed Nestle to ask why they changed to the flip up lid and why they had reduced the number of colours, they replied " Only Smarties have the answer "
