When you make good tunes you will make money, getting recognition getting in magazines, getting charted, the biggest producers reviewing your music, you don't have to pay a penny on getting anything pressed!...

Here is a tip: Talent & Imagination!

This thread has turn into how do i make money off other people's music!..:S

Monty, you clearly haven't read the last several comments properly or almost certainly misinterpreted them? :S

I think the point that Dan and Tim are trying to make is that it's a lot of money to spend getting your own tunes pressed to find that only a small amount of them actually sell leaving a large hole in your pocket.

It's not the fact that it's not good music, it's just not your average latest pop hit and vinyl isn't exactly the preferred medium these days...

There's a lot of imagination, and there certainly isn't any shortage of talent between the two!

thought id reply to this one :) as weve had a recent vinyl out

in my opinion and on what weve done so far with Piano Junkies , if your tunes are good enough and you promote and push them right , then it can be worth doing

our piano junkies first 4 track EP vinyl has already sold well over 100 copys ( in first 2 months ) and still selling a couple every week , so the vinyl has already paid for itself and more , and we still have about 150 of them left , which we expect them to sell over the comin months (once our new website is up and running ) and weve already had massive demand for our 2nd vinyl which is due out in the next few months . . . .

doin them digitally first is a good option , we pushed ours digitally for a good few months before bringing them out on vinyl and think that has helped overall sales . . :)

id say do it . . cant beat the feeling of having your own vinyl :)

Hi all,

Its Kidson, some of you may know what i do etc.. i wont promote other stuff on here. Just want to make a quick point, i found out about Piano Junkies because of there Digital Releases, this has lead to me selling there music myself via my store and booking them at a London awards gig this year.
The way the music world is now, i would push a digital release first to help find your followers and market. There are few labels out there that support new producers and release there stuff in digtal formats.

Back to the main point of the topic, If you wish to release somthing on vinyl just beacuse you would love to. Who cares if you loss abit of cash, as long as you can live with the loss i would say go for it :)

Just do what your doing and shop about for a good price and a low amount.

Maybe work on some of the ideas already posted, join up with some one, have two tracks each and half the stock.

:)

Ar thanks, that means a lot, Im not even a hairline scratch on Tim tho, that man can churn out a Tune!

Would be well up for an OSA 4 Tracker if other peeps want to do it.

Im still thinking of Cutting Vinyl, I know its only a Lathe Cut but a lot of people seem to be really happy with his work, and £225 for 25 copies seems very reasonable, im sure ill shift 25 copies of my work, even if they are not Proper Metal like pressings from a plant.
This way just seems like the best of both worlds even if im left with 5 or 10 copies I know ill shift them in a lifetime and I haven't busted the bank in doing so.

Watch this space

Hi all,

I thought I'd add my tuppence worth. I cannot make music. I wouldn't know where to start.

I am however regarded (the lord only knows why) as one of the top hundred digital marketers in the country. I would be willing to help out wherever possible with any kind of team effort to help some of you realise your dreams.

:)

Tim ill have a chat with you about all this and see what you think, ill give you a shout on MSN later this eve if your around, The site is getting good reviews and he seems to do it all at a fair price.

Coolio, should be about later

Emailed that guy and he prints labels too which is a bonus.

Seriously considering doing this. The only downside is having to charge more. But I reckon it would be much easier to shift 15-20 copies at £10-15 than to shift 100 at £6-8

Would peeps be willing to pay that???

Considering the rarity... yep.

Apart from Biskit obviously... he NEVER pays more than 50p for a tune :D

Yeah for sure Tim, Im thinking of doing the same breaking even would be a bonus but my music isn't as tight production wise as yours (obviously) so not sure if that's where id have to charge less per copy???

Doesn't matter either way, this does seem like a good alternative tho.

Ill give you a shout a little later on
