Are they ikea units the decks are on...I was thinking something along the same lines because my kid has a single unit and the other day I was thinking it's perfect for vinyl

Yeah mate. All Kallax units, the top one ive just missed out the middle shelf. Thats where my pc tower is going

Awesome thanks, ...just noticed you didn't have to make a shelf and all four feet of the decks fit perfectly...noice .

And your very organised ....like the cardboard markers so you know what's what

Heres mine, nothing fancy, I made the unit myself, all hidden fixings etc...

Got all my fave stuff to hand, below in the unit.

I also have one of those 4 section Kallax units full of vinyl, plus a load of vinyl stashed under a victorian bed were the mrs cant tell when new stuff come inprobs around 450 odd.

I was thinking of putting holes in the back of my flight case's for wires and use them like that, but deffo gonna go with deck savers now..

Next job learn to mix, and has been for the last 8 yrs

No mate, its a SONY TA-SP55

I got it off my mate yrs ago, brand new in the box, before I had decks, It was a replacement for the one he had when his house got robbed, his had a tape deck in it instead of the mini disk player which is how they sold them, tbh I would rather had the one with the tape deck in, cant remember what I paid him for it...

6months later his orig unit turned up in his front room, along with a few other bits that went missing

Tbh its been great for what I need it for, never used the mini disc player, the room my decks are is 50s style box room so really small, so its more than loud enough.

I did get two big front speakers about 3ft tall with those giant jack plugs with springs round the neck (not sure what brand) they have the hole in the bottom for a tripod, also got a amp that came in a bundle with my decks in the cases and old numark mixer all for £500.00.

The problem is just on one bar they are way tooooooo loud for that little room, they do come out the loft when we have a party, the sound is quite nice from them ...

Now this is where I feel bad....coz I have a technics stacks....years ago I said ill sell it on ebay, after looking at other ads it became apparent it was worth FA...so I said I'll put it I'm the shed and have it banging during the summer...which I sort of do..but now I've a marshall BT speaker and it does it all
Just now went to the shed to check out the condition because I'm going to use it with my set up...well....

Belive it or not...I was looking for them last week to finish off a kitchen..ha ha ha...ill use them now coz the customer still ain't chose the tiles and are holding me up ffs!

But yes it's the show room stand...a mate was working in a high end electrical shop....did us a deal on the stack and gave us the stand..coz I asked for it....who knew that after all these years I'm going to use it again ....actually who knew I was going to get decks again after nearly 30 years....can't wait
And if the neighbours complain.


I'll tell them it's my son .

Your work reminds of something I seen in Freetown Christiania in Denmark, Have you done any exhibition's.

It’s kinda evolved. Had made cruder first versions. The first drum kit I made was from a real one, but structurally it was a mess - even though it has better dimensions - and it got in the way during lockdown: made it as part of a community project that got shut down because of Covid.

Made the second one fairly quickly just from a few images off my phone. Still unfinished. I maybe make a third and colour it, use glitter etc. Really go to town on it.

Depends really - often trial and error etc and things suggest the next move. Part of the fun of it is objects are interchangeable so something that was made maybe a while back may kick off something more recent and pop Much like mixing.

Yes, I’ve shown some of the earlier versions - one with a crude sound piece etc... recently showed a series of empty coke cans in the corner of a gallery space. That was fun. But nothing to it’s fullest extent yet.

Back in the game...
Made some room (temporarily) , went to IKEA Croydon yesterday 9am...then found they open at 10 .
Got my Kallax unit, ....biggest surprise was how many tunes I had in the loft, ithought I only had 200

Nah I was shit..can't even remember 90% of the tunes....pretty much starting from 0, I need to learn the tunes again
