As a music lover I guess its about time I joined this site...

At the moment I know very little about it :S ..but know most of u lot have been using it a long time.

Have a few questions about it.

Am I right in thinkin its just a peer to peer file sharing thing?

Whats it like for gettin hold of tunes? (Think I'll mainly use it to listen to unknowns)

I often hear everyone saying I'll add u to my list etc - Can u share with eveyone or is it restricted?

Is it safe - dont wanna be gettin viruses etc?

Please can someone point me in the right direction so I can d/l it

Cheers in advance peeps :)

Yes

It's OK - you can add things to your wish list and they turn up eventually

I often hear everyone saying I'll add u to my list etc - Can u share with eveyone or is it restricted?

Both - you can choose to share your files with everyone or just certain peeps

Is it safe - dont wanna be gettin viruses etc?

I've never had a problem

Please can someone point me in the right direction so I can d/l it

Bear in mind that it's a dog eat dog world & you'll more likely than not be forced to suck the cock of the people who have got the largest number of files shared to get a sniff at being allowed on their download list....

That's why I absolutely love being a vinyl purist... no ass-kissing from me to any fookin ego-centric cock who 'owns' 15'000 tunes..... no mate you don't 'own' them... they're mp3s.... stop being so fookin precious & get a fookin life. & some decks... and some vinyl... and some mates :D

Sorry but there are some TOTAL cocks on slsk....

/edit... sorry - that should be..

self-satisfied, small-minded, hugely egotistical, condescending elitist TOTAL cocks on slsk

:D

/edit again

forgot arrogant....

yes... there are a few people on slsk I would never tire of punching repeatedly in the face

Cheers for the replies  pretty much as i thought;)

&

lmao at Shooms

I know what you mean though... (despite just buying a CD deck to go with me 1210s which means I can mix MP3s once burnt to CD) I actually don't feel like I own an MP3.

In fact having an MP3 of a tune I like just makes me wanna own the tune on vinyl more badly...

I'll hopefully download it within the next couple of weeks..

Will bump this thread up once Iv got a username n stuff see if u kind folk will add me to ya list :eyebrow: (and tell me how to use the thing :S lol)

I've had some very strange conversations on Soulseek with a few people who were obviously a sandwich short of a picnic, but it's generally OK. Of course more and more people will only share with those on their userlist so it's better to have a good collection to begin with if you are going to ask people to be added on to theirs. Might take a bit of time and surfing to get a good userlist but is worth it in the end, when I used Soulseek I managed to get a fair bit of decent stuff. Also Use PeerGuardian for safety issues.

I don't use it much now because it p*sses me off how selfish some people are on there. I'm happy to share all my music files, but there's people on there that are just plain and simple greedy cnuts. The only way it can work properly is if everybody shares:thumbsup:

Anyway there's very few tunes I still want really, so I might download once for every 20 uploads:)

I ve ad to go userlist only about 6 months ago cos people where queing up 1000s of tracks at a time which would av took weeks to download..phones:

Easy MM fella ;)

Actually to be fair the vast majority on slsk I've spoken to are sound... it's just there are a few arrogant cocks that like to believe that they 'run tings' & try to dictate policy to the rest of the room....

Do remember, one of the best features on soulseek is the 'ignore' button :)

To not have to see what some eijits type can be bliss :king:

Don't bother using it myself anymore as I get audio needs elsewhere...

There are too many cocks on Soulseek who abuse the "ban user" option. I once got banned off some nob just because he didn't like what I was sharing....

I haven't used it for months, and I was never arsed about using it to download oldskool tunes, I just grabbed whatever.

My other gripe with it, is that you can't get a file from multiple sources so most of the time it's slow as fuck, and the fucking queues make me fucking sick. I think I'll stick with KazaaLite K++ Max out up to 200kb/sec

That all said, there are enough of us on Soulseek that are often on OSA, and it is a very handy way of getting tunage.
I only share with folk on my userlist and am happy for folk on here to take whatever they want from me. Not everybody on Soulseek is a knob-jockey!

I've saved myself loads of time converting analogue to digital by some very helpful folk on here, so am happy to do likewise for others on here.
