The only bit of advice i can give you is that you embrace all the peeps on this forum.I owned a record store for 12 years and also have a 'silly' amount of music to my disposal but as you will find out there are people on this forum who know their shit and have some serious tunage. They put me to shame.Im used to dealing with anoraks but these guys are really sad .

As for a search engine i find www.alltheweb.com is quite good for images but for tunes Soulseek or Winmx are your best options.
