Not even close.

To not include Mancuso, Levan, Ron Hardy and Knuckles on any top 10 is quite frankly mental.

Derrick May should be on there, he fucking invented techno! Sasha should probably be on there. Think Hawtin is a good call. Laurent Garnier should be in there too. There's a good argument for Oakenfold for sure.

Too Many Dj's basically did what all the Dj's in the 80's were doing, mixing different styles. They did it well, but great?

I'm not into to Tiesto at all. He's clearly massive though.

Best set I have ever heard out?

Carl Cox - Cream, Liverpool 1995.

Absolutely brilliant and I wasn't really into "techno" at the time.

I'll never forget it and that is why he is my favourite DJ ever.

Apart from Plutes and Ste Huxley who would have provided a much better time that night I'm sure, if given the chance.

Interesting that Tony de Vit made it. I saw him a couple of times when i was in Birmingham, and though the style was harder, he was great both times.

Is he getting credited with that style? Seems to have a lot of support.

As posted Derrick may is a major talent that half of those on there couldn't even tie the blokes shoe laces, I like Andy c myself but wouldn't put him in a top 10...

I would of moved sasha much higher as well as he was mixing in key for years unlike most other tone deaf big name dj's and his sets are usually an epic journey which I love.

i've not had exposure to many djs, i've always stuck to a select few but i've never heard anyone mix like parky did in his heyday, he was the djs dj who all the others wanted to be like, he was the benchmark. in terms of technical quality and tune selection he will always be my number one although i cannot say im into his music nowadays. todd terry has always rocked the house though and full intention nights were always belters with their style and samples.

i dont really know how you could judge djs against each other anyway, tune selection is down to personal taste. Also someone maybe a great mixer but lack the ability to bring the mix "alive" whilst you might have a dj who is a dodgy mixer but drops bombs for fun and really knows how to work a crowd.

I tend to fall into this category lol :$

Ref dance music DJ's - the originators

Hardy / Levan / Mancuso / Baker / Knuckles / Frankie Bones

For me it's all about creativity & being different

Hype for the excitement & energy & scratching/cutting in the Fantasy FM days, Sasha in his Eclipse/Shelleys, Carl Cox for the 3 deck schizz, James Zabiela for his tearing a new arsehole outta tunes... Rich Garvin / Mike Woods / Noggy for creating the whole Legends thing by playing everything that nobody else did etc..

I don't know what you were all expecting. You don't have to pass a history test to go out clubbing. These are just the people relevent to today's kids. I, for one wouldn't expect in a million years the likes of Francis Grasso, Nicky Siano or Tom Savarese to feature given the demographics of Mixmag readership.

First time i've heard of Total DJ I think, but different taste and expectations to mine is all I can draw from their Top 10.

On the wheels of steel, the original DJ, on 2 turntables and a microphone, playing continuous music, Jimmy Savile:thumbsup: :D

30 years before Herc and Flash - the worlds first DJ and nobody can take that away from him:beer:
