I personally think that if you choose to eat meat then at some stage in your life you have to kill, gut & then cook the animal in question...

Done that. Not pleasent, but makes you mindful of life, death and everything in between. You are left with a greater respect and appreciation of the animal that has "provided" for you and the responsibility we have to it during it's life.
