I did the same... bring the boys home & scrap Trident.

Ditto.

Though I'm sure I read somewhere that war is the biggest employer of all time.
And I'm sure that man will never grow out of it's need to have wars to settle something or another. And all nations have umpteen numbers of ways to kill whoever they want to without resorting to a unprejudiced destroyer.

I would love to see all Nuclear warheads dissarmed - as ideal, naive and fanciful that may seem right now. I just don't see the point in any one or two (or 8/9) countries having a big red button that will not only anhialate their enemy but fuck up the planet for everyone and themselves. Even devleoping the weapons and maintaining them represents a major strain on the public coffers of even the richest nations.

I would propose that the knowledge and technology to develop nuclear weapons be shared globally; whilst dissarming all nations global warheads... what madness Kevin

Prior to that I would like to see that the United Nations is strengthened, but not given tax raising powers (Not another EU). So that all countries are given a seat on a global council - the head being a representative of their government. With their vote share being proportional to the countries population. All members are there with the signed autority of the country they represent. With the understanding that countries governments that breach "no-brainers" can be removed or "taken out" by the UN.

"no-brainers" being development of nuclear weapons, declarations of war/acts of aggression taken without UN's consent, systematic build up of petty/minor/major acts not in the interests of the country or world.

How would this stop Iran; Al Qaeda; BNP acquiring the technology to develop Nuclear weapons. It wouldn't but there would be a better understanding globaly of what materials are banned and why. Which would enhance spy networks, to ensure any movements in prohibited items, are documented for a country to act upon. And they would then have to act upon it or face removal by the UN

I deduce that either...

There's a lot of racists on this board

I fear that there are a few actually.:|

The BNP aren't as racist as the lefty media make out

You either are or you are not racist. I think the BNP are racist and it is hard to say otherwise.

The whole thing is a load of old bollcks and you should just vote for whoever you want lol

That poll is a load of bollocks .. . .and I agree you should vote for whom you want.

yeah man, it is...how can they deduce who you should vote for on a few little quite 'open' questions. there were none about racism...just a few on peeps coming into the country. Honestly, it's a load of tosh.

I wouldn't vote labour...or lib dem, or tory...i might vote green. just to vote for someone if I vote, i don't see why it should be that way. (please don't follow with a barrage of comments, i can't be arsed with it,if you do - i'll simply block your comments...it's too personal a thing to have people slag one another off)

but yeah, that quiz is shiza!

Some of Brooker's comments giving way to bias I'm afraid to say, but there are excellent comments to the article, the best of which was this....

" 'That's a good age. Which football team do you support?'
I'm now going to use this to pick up girls in bars, it has charm written all over it. "

:D

"That's a good ass. Which position do you favour."

Just thought a "plan B" never goes amiss, Adam.

wasn't expecting that...

UK Independence Party: 49%
British National Party: 48%
Labour Party: 47%
Liberal Democrats: 43%
Conservative Party: 38%

I've thought long and hard about where to place my vote this time (even more than the X-Factor finals, Britain's got talent, what soup to take to work for lunch), I have consulted family and friends, colleagues, even people who I dont know (or would rather not know). I have looked at all the arguments and viewed the way the candidates carry themselves, answer questions, deal with the public, put in the hours. I am thinking about me, what would best suit me, my family, my future...

Time is ticking and I need to place my vote but I can't vote cos they are all Cunts :|

If Simon Cowell's pushing for the Conservatives to be in power, I fully expect Rage Against The Machine to win the election ;) * *

Hehe, good article, if you are going to be biased then that's the way to do it.

Having kept a close eye on the election build-up I've been trying to sum up how I actually feel about Cameron, there's something very unnerving about him that that really gives me the creeps, and after reading that article I think I've now nailed it down to two words...

"Utterly Soulless"

BTW - forgot to comment on this... well written, reasoned & eloquent & totally resonates with my own thoughts on the subject.

I did want to add that Trident is an absolute genius way of deploying ballistic missiles. Better than any other land, air or water launched missile system that could be easily detected and targetted by an enemy in a first strike.
Kinda makes you proud to be British

And if we have to keep the deterrent. Then I would like to see the current fleet of four reduced to two - one in service at sea, one being serviced.

Unfortunately, we do have to keep something. You cannot put the genie back in the bottle. I do not see the need to spend billions on replacements at this present time but we will never be able to get rid of them all.
