i've used all of the methods outlined in this thread, that is until someone pointed me in the direction of thislittle beauty:

for unlike the others, which for some reason take an age to save into the edit thing this does it in literally seconds - just download it (it's free

) then open said music file - put a 'cut' in at the end or beggining or whatever and click on save icon - hey presto job done in 2 seconds

And the best thing is it keeps the original so you can have another go if you fook it up

or alternatively you can do a few 'cuts' and save them ontop two cd's or whatever
