it still seemed to be busy right up until the last event in 97.
coz it was crap???
full of teeny ravers saying "whats your name..where you from...what you on??"
Basics, Ronsons & HT's were the best nights in Leed's

mate I was a regular as basics, ronsons and went a few times to HT. however ark had the best atmosphere of all of them, and slating it for having kids there is being a bit "in my days it was better". not true at all, some of the best nights of my life there.
used to have a laugh on the 1mile trip to thw toliets at the Poly (i Thinhk it was the poly)
Rob tyrell (main promoter) said the numbers were slightly down each event towards the end, not a great deal but he could sence a shift was happening in the club scene so pulled the plug while it was on top unlike other events such as the gallery and life at bowlers who dragged it out till death and ended up with poor events
also, the carbon copy tale of the gallery is the most amusing thing iv heard this year hahahah, Rob tyell was doing events well before Gallery. which started with a event called Dream
each to their own yer the early arks were good but not " thee best rave's ever " and yer your right after 94 witch was realy the end of the rave movement but some people will disagree but that's you prerogative yes their was a shift in the dance scene so may be it was a good idea to pull the plug on it while it was on top .
and as for the gallery and bowlers you are right they did milk it witch was a shame as the gallery did hold some good avents but when they moved downstairs back into old Ricky's with the " gallery two " about 94/95 i think as it was called and then the " powerhouse " may have been the other way round memorie not was it was it was't the same and as for bowlers never realy liked that place myself some how .
like i sead it was a tale i was told by Si middle of last year in a conversation about the old rave scene we were on about the old gallery owner and the ark owner rob tryell and how rob tessira started out at the gallery and then went on to start ark with rob tryell i thought it was a bit dubious myself as i can remember the dream rave got the flyer some were but didn't know who add organized it like i sead thought it was a bit iffy myself .
the shop was good too in the early years up stairs in the corn exchange sold some good clothes , tapes your ark tickets ect we've got one in castleford at xscape .
good point about back to basic's they did some goods nights too and yes were up their own arses but they never started out like that it was just the way they went it's just basics been basics .
www.myspace.com/arkclothingcom
yeah was a shame they milked gallery how they did, should have ended it earlier like ark did .
Rob Tissera didnt start with Gallery, Dream was actually promoted by Rob Tyrell and Rob Tissera, and this was well before Gallery started, the two robs were really close friends at this time, so obviously when the Ark started, it wouldnt be long till tissera was their.
do u remember the Breakfast club too?? that was also tyrell. i have the flyer in storage, they did different colour flyers for the same event, pretty mad
Ark was so different to anything else in leeds at the time, it really did have a great production and attention to detail was wicked.
The shops were cool, alot different now as i said before they made the switch into a normal type shop, not a ravers mecca anymore haaha, respect must be payed to them for doing what they did and getting to where they have got now
Alot of bulls**t been said here.
Hmmmmm pretentious people, i cant understand why u come on here if u dont like the rave scene and how it was.
What Bullshit fella?? there's only 3 comments
coz it was crap??? (Everyones entitled to their opinion. I went about 15 times inc the Fantazia / Ark ones I think I remember one good night, April 95 in Blackpool altohugh the organisation was horrendous with them making everybody queue across that bridge with a gale force wind and sleet for 2 hours freezing are bollox off...it took me about and hour to warm up inside)
full of teeny ravers saying "whats your name..where you from...what you on??" (come on...everyone knows it was like that???) you used to get that asked about 15/20 a night in Ark)
It felt like a mile walk to the toliets as well...especially if you were trollied which I normally was to try and make it more exciting / fun)
firstly Fella, why go 15 times if it was shit, im sure their was many other places u could have gone, it was the 90's, and we were spoilt for choice, so u coming on and slaggin it off is a load of bullshit in my opinion, i mean, come on.... if it was so bad u would have stopped going right?????, unless ur one of those types that slags stuff of but then goes anyway, the kind of person the scene dont need tbh.
Also if u went whilst u were going to skool, u would fit in ok right?? hahahah blimey...!!!
other things that were bullshit, (that i can remember without reading everything again) was the bit about it been a carbon copy of Gallery etc (not aimed at wez as he was jus passing on info), that was just silly.
quote you here fella
"coz it was crap???"
Its like me saying rock music is crap, just coz i dont like something does NOT mean its crap, id just not go to a rock concert, do u understand what im saying??
Again, why go at least 15 times if it was crap????? dont get that at all. strange....
and (quote you again)
"Faversham weas a laugh as well"
Says it all really dont it?
