well orbit was just the same as Ark in regard to the kind of people that went their, and how they dressed.
i still cant see how u can say ark was shit in your first posts, and especially not since your last posts which seem to have a slight change of heart.?

you would have been better off jus sayin, "yes ark was great for the music and production (lights, sound etc) but i didnt like some of the crowd or the bouncers" etc

That would have been a fair comment, but still, at least people were friendly.

The bouncers were actually an outside company called showsec, and were terrible at organisation untill near the end of Arks days. and the chewing gum ban was to stop the uni floors from getting F**cked up, i know this as iv held events their too, very strickt they are!!

At the end of the day it was a 90's rave, not a fashion show, i have always liked to have nice clothes, but i also loved how ark was, much better than all that stuck up "look at me" attitude u get in places like basics. was all about the music, drugs and party for me.

Yeah it wouldnt work these days like that, as all ud get would be chavs in nike shox with tracksuits tucked into their socks, and wearin air max 90 hoodies, but back then it was cool and how most the best places were.

im glad i enjoyed my raving years,i was lucky enough to be able to drive not long after my 17th birthday so i got the chance to try every club i wanted. and this meant i got the chance to spend my time in all the clubs i wanted to, it seems u didnt, thats a massive shame and i feel for you coz those times aint never gonna come back..

This post is starting to get boring for me now, and im sure it is for many others.
Iv made all the points i wanted to so im gonna leave it at that
:gigolo:

Alot of bulls**t been said here.

Hmmmmm pretentious people, i cant understand why u come on here if u dont like the rave scene and how it was.

But there was so much variation in the "rave scene"

You can see that from all the mixes that get posted

I dont consider myself a musical snob at all but I have been to nights that were bloody frightening in terms of crowd

It needed to fragment

other things that were bullshit, (that i can remember without reading everything again) was the bit about it been a carbon copy of Gallery etc (not aimed at wez as he was jus passing on info), that was just silly.

like i say brad only saying wot i heard but like in another thread am one of these wot doesn't believe all am told if you get my drift because i can remember the ark for the good raves and the bad ones like all people who go clubbing but each to their own .

Ricky`s in Leeds
coz it was crap???

full of teeny ravers saying "whats your name..where you from...what you on??"

Basics, Ronsons & HT's were the best nights in Leeds

Faversham weas a laugh as well

You hit the nail on the head there Dodgymix. I went till 95 and all of a sudden there were pillocks with white gloves and glowey things, the place stunk of holbes (sp?) oil and the music went hardcore to the door.
I kid u not, i even saw a tart wearing a baby costume with a dummy in her gob, and i`d not even had me pills so i was well worried, lol.

Wot a load of bowlarks it was:mad:

If it wasnt for the drugs i may have been scarred for life, lol.

P.S. Rickys and the Warehouse were the best nights in Leeds:D ;) phones:

 It all split up in different directions after the days of Rickys / Warehouse.
Basics or further afield were more of a natural progression for myself but I agree that the tartan trouser wearing snobs were just the Leeds fashion mafia who didnt know feck all and did add to ridicule from the original quavers sometimes including myself :$ . Rickys sadly lost it and turned into the Gallery. Ark by this point was basically Bowlers in Leeds though the odd night like Ark Vs Orbit at the corn echange was apparently good
For me 1992 was a comedown after the 2 previous years partying in Leeds :(

I would of loved to have had a chance to go to ark, and places like angels, life at bowlers-i was/looked too young :( My uncle and all his mates used to go all the time, i used to nick their tape packs of em, u could say those tapes shaped my music taste...i think who ever got the chance to grace the floors of these places are well lucky and have a place in the history of the scene...im well jealous :D

I agree, it went down mid 1993 for me but i somehow carried on till 95. B2B was ok on the bottem floor but i like prog music but at least with the odd uplifting piano or summat in the set but it never happened, just constant beats and noise. We used to just go and get tw@tted but that got boring, or was it us, anyhoo it was the end of an era for me:cry:

The corn exchange nights were good, even better cos i was resident there and got us all in for free.
