do u not think its a bit ironic that girls wanna be skinny as possible and lads are sticking needles full of steroids up their arses to get bigger
As for girls aloud, they're not role models, they're pop stars. As shaun ryder once said " be your own kids role model"
Faye if u wanna put some weight on, stop having a cheeky reefer b4 u go to work

yes there pop stars and there target audience is young girls , young girls look up to them , adore them , want to be them , why do you think promoters use them ? because they know if they have girls aloud backing there product that sales increase , sales increase because young girls want to be like them . sheesh shaun ryder one to talk , lol

nah the shaun ryder one was when some people accused him of being a bad role model, he said hes no role model, he didnt give a fukk what other peoples kids got upto and that parents should be their own kids role model, just cause he took drugs doesnt mean that people could blame him if their kids took drugs. I suppose its the same with girls aloud, so what if they are advertising some product, your responsible for your kids, not girls aloud

easy solution to that, dont follow trends.
At the end of the day, the parent/s brings the kids up. My mam n dad used to say that I had to do as they say, not what anyone else told me for as long as i lived under their roof and untill i could pay my own way. Now maybe they were forceful but its done me no harm.
Now if a parent lets their kids get proper skinny cause they wanna be like girls aloud then its the parents fault for allowing it to happen, well thats my opinion anyway

i shouldnt think that kids go round shouting about eating disorders david and by time a / the parents clocked on to the fact there was a problem the eating disorder would be in place . because thats what can happen , im not saying girls aloud are the cause of this but promoting that image there promoting at the moment for a tv ad certainly doesnt help , but that will be the parents fault for letting them watch tv eh .

my parents had the same attitude that yours did and im pretty much the same , as much as she spits her dummy say over a item of clothing i have the attitude wen you can pay for it you can have it , i can control what she wears and quite rightly so the way she behaves round others is a reflection on me . but unfortunatly the way she thinks i can do feck all about :( lol she wouldnt be a fan of girls aloud for a start ;) .

Oi you cheeky! LOL, tried stopping that too easty, and that made it worse-lost weight:eek: , I find if I have a j, I get munchies so eat more :D dont make me put any on tho :axe: I accept the way i am and try put on weight, its just maddening when i have to pay over the odds for a pair of jeans that would of cost me half the price if I had whats considered a normal size waist eg, 10, 12, 14 etc

I have to say tho, its all well and good sayin be a role model for your own kids, but this shite is put in front of impressionable young kids all the time, you may be able to take away all the gossip mags, but then you got the telly not to mention the 20 foot advertisments that are all over, showing piccys of what society sees as glamour.

You one of life Slim Jims Betty?

"role models" Come in all shapes and sizes and always will as people come in all shapes and sizes. Shaun Ryder had a point if an over simplified one. We need to give our kids self respect, but they will be influenced.

In the particular case of Girls Aloud, the real problem is they are vacuous, vacant, plastic and manipulated at the hands of a record company to make money. That is why they are poor role models, they have nothing positive to say to kids. However, they are not underweight and look good . . .after a fashion. There are women who carry more weight who look good also like J-lo, Beyonce and Fern of This Morning LOL.

Posh Vs Beth Ditto??? There's a mash up!

Come on Start the day with a smile you lot. . . it's Friday!

People in the public eye have always been skinny. Role models in particular. I can think of loads of examples going back to the 50s. Im afraid I have to maintain that there are a lot worse things going on in the world of advertising and fashion in comparison to girls aloud. Here are just a few.......

Vivien Leigh....actual 18 inch wasit

Audrey Hepburn. Eating Disorder....and just think how much her image is plastered around in pop culture today!!!

LMAO @ Slim Jim Betty, sounds like a pirate arrrrgh. ;)

Yes thats my point too, that they are manufactured and churned out to be sexy pop stars that are getting admired by very young children who in turn are getting eating disorders, wearing clothes that are far beyond thier own ages and growing up with some appearance complex and not truely being able to love themselves from the inside. Its hard being a young girl today, never mind being a little girl. :S

As a 24 year old girl/woman-lol I see what girls aloud are about-im not naive, i know what they are doing-ie selling sex and crap music (some lyrics from thier 'music':something kinda ohh, stepping on my tutu, somethin inside of me, wants some part of you/I want you, get in the que :axe:), but if my kid was coming up to me saying that she wanted to look like/be them, id be worried as the image they are putting out to youngsters between the ages of 6-12, imo are aimed at the wrong age group.

Is it not raising the question that, if these ppl werent put in the public eye, and society wasnt arsed about glamour, they wouldnt yearn to be thin?you have proved it goes way back...Image to some ppl is everything-sad as fuck. Its because of the ppl way back plus the ppl of today who are making it worse.

Yeah you are right there are so many others who are slimmer/ slim, its just adding more to the fuel to the fire tho...more of it, more problems.

Thats only like the Spice Girls......and my generation turned out fine!!! Melaine C was anorexic too......and I never wanted to look like her lol

You think so do ya?
I dont think any one wants to look anorexic, that amy is a disease, there is a difference. Who in their right minds would? Girl youre crazy!

Suppose I have to face facts, we live in nothing but a materialistic world, made up of a majority of shallow ppl, who care about toss all cept how they look and how others view them...

Honey, Im quoting girls aloud lyrics there, same for the spice girls, SHITE MUSIC SELLING SEX (oh if wannabe dont get number 1 at least our arses and tits falling out of our outfits will help it get there) :axe:

All these pop groups sell sex cos the music doesnt, its wrong. Youre telling me if your 11 year old girl comes home telling you she wants to wear a union jack dress like geris cos she really looks up to her, that barley covers her fu fu. you gonna say that its ok, perfectly normal. Get real.

In Fairness to Amy, I don't for a moment think she meant anyone wanted to be annorexic.

Mr R, in all fairness to everybody, no-one wants to be anorexic, its a disease of the mind. A mind that is plagued with images of stick thin models, actressess, singers. That makes the sufferer want to be that way, if these images werent put in the eye of these ppl, then the need to be skinny wouldnt be there. :D Im putting a smily cos I dont want to come across as Im having a go...

At school, todays kids are taught about healthy eating, sex education is getting taught at younger ages, so kids are starting to know a fair bit about these things, add them with piccys of half naked, slender fitties, what have ya got...You got kids/children knowing how to starve themselves, to make themselves thin, aware of sex and making themselves want to be sexy...imo it wrong :D (smily for no hard feelings Mr R-lo)

You're right lol I never meant anyone wants to be anorexic! And i wasnt saying that its right for young girls to want to be like popstars.

I was just making the point that when I was 11/12, everyone loved the spice girls.....i used to think they were really good! I really loved Emma Bunton and always wanted to look like her. But seeing as my parents dictated where I went, what I wore, what I listened to, it didn't cause me any harm. When you grow up you realise for yourself what is beautiful. When you have kids wanting to be like kate moss, there really is a problem, not silly pop bands surely!

Betty there would never be hard feeling mate!!!

I was just pointing out that Amy never said anyone would want to be annorexic or even suggested it. She just said despite Mel C having annorexia, she personally never wanted to look like her or copy her.

For what it's worth, I agree with all the comments about child welfare etc.

My last word on the matter . . promise. Anyone reading, have a good one!
