Sort of background on the Berbatov saga:

It is a duplicate of what happened with Diego Forlan.

The Uruguayan flew in to London with Middlesbrough, thinking they had signed him in a coup.

Fergie sent an agent - a burly Scottish chap called George Urquhart, to nab him at the airport and take him to Man U.

Urquhart is also Sav's agent and looked like Shrek, grabbing Diego by the jacket and hustling him into a waiting car.

Man U? Don't you just love 'em.

Only thing is with this one....Tottenham don't see the funny side.

After so many false dawns I still cant believe it, are they sure theyve bought the right club, one that always manages to shoot itself in the foot lol :D

Life is never dull being a City fan, what a 18 months it has been. From hardly having a pot to piss in to being owned by the richest family in the world, who apparantly have a trillion dollars in the bank:fekked:  What a kick in the nuts for the so called journalists who've had the knives out over the last few weeks:D
I think the journo's have just been wanting to break the story to sell papers, rather than having the knives out in any kind of vindictive manner. It's worth noting you've got some kind of PR bloke working for you, forget his name, Max Clifford type chap, he's the ex editor of the News of the Screws. Anyway he's been going round threatening the journos with legal action if they don't print favourable stuff. It was inPrivate Eye.

Who gives a shit though now - it's happy days now for you lot. Unbelievably so - the most ridulous highes and lows with City :fekked:

One thing seems to be odd though - your Skeih fella is seriously splashing the cash but surely he doesn't actually own owt yet - due dilligence and all that.

I agree about Berbatov, he's got his heart set on Man U it seems.

I think he will be in for a shock when he finds out there is another premier league team in Manchester ;)

Dont the City fans see similarities with this Frank fella takeover and the new Foriegn owner :cops:

As for Berbatov he was always going Utd - I posted the odds before which demonstrated what everyone with any sense knew... the bookies dont give away money.

Its been a bit of a farce by Spurs (And certainly Berbatov hasnt covered himself in glory either), still Im glad to have a quality player to add to our squad.

Interesting times for City, and fair play IF Robinho does sign, that will only help them attract better players... and like Chelsea a few years back they will have to pay over the odds to get him.

Tis great this day...

You just hope its not your team who panic buys and ends up with the lemons

Citys new owner is much richer than frankie. And far less corrupt. He is apparently quite a celeb over there and runs an arabic equivalent of the apprentice. I think its a great move for City albeit too late in the day to make much of an impact in the early part of the season. January transfer window should be interesting though and I would expect city to splash the cash heavily..

I was reffering to the amount of 'false dawns' you see as a City fan lol...

Wether its the savour who was Franny Lee to the previous owner who promised to make them one of the big clubs, spend loads of money etc and is now out of there...

The promises and ambitions of all these fella's dont come up to much and they seem to go from one farce to another... come to think of it they are quite similar to Newcastle :spin:

Fair play though no doubt that he has a big wallet and he certainly looks like he wants to throw a bit of cash about

Movin' on up.
Well all great fun.

More sobering thought though. . . .. Just how far removed from the fans has football become in this country?

Half the owners need sat nav just to find the club they own.
You no longer need millions to compete. .. . you need billions.
Players increasingly don't care about who they play for as long as the money is right.. . . .Forget the badge kissing . . few mean it.
Local communities and grass roots football are been forgotten about.
The national team managed by an Italian struggles to find 11 decent players whilst most premier teams struggle to field 2 or 3 British players.
Some of the most famous clubs in the country are now part of refinancing deals and massively in debt, despite all the money about.
Conduct on the field of play is at times wretched.

Despite all this I still love football, but cannot be anything other than saddened for the loss of the soul of the game.

Warning - You could have 15 billionaire owners and you still only have one league winner and four Champions League places. . . .. Someone will be disappointed.

Soon these owners will seek to change the game forever to try and create the European League in order to prop up their investment, when the domestic game does not cut it anymore. Or if a few get bored or the money dries up due to the harsh economic climate, clubs could be left bankrupted or the game could go into melt down. If football was a market (and it is) such as the housing market, it would be deemed unsustainable by many and a massive readjustment to the market would be inevitable.

When Saturday Comes. . . . .Yeah right!:(

Great post Chris.

There was once a time when you earned money because you were great , now you become great because of money .

Sad sad state of affairs.

How far has the game become removed ??????

Heres what i think ..................... ( robbed it off my mate but sums up how i feel perfectly )

Sorry to say it lads, but people like us are like those little old fellas that you still see in them "trendy" bars in town.

They've drank in there for years, since it was a spit and sawdust gaff, and love the bones of the place. They've grown up with it being a part of their lives, they're part of the furniture.

It's been bought out, spruced up by the new owners and the price of the ale has gone through the roof. A new crowd has been attracted to the place and it's nothing like what it once was. That group of old fellas now sit in their same old seats, but have nothing in common with the people that surround them. No banter, no jokes, no drunken songs at the end of the night.

It's full of youngsters drinking shots and businessmen taking clients out for the night.

Yet they still turn up every weekend as it's what they've always done, and can't let go.

We are those men.
