When is Manchester going to get its act together again. Diffrent info on different websites.

Arrive at Ten no music till 10:30, Ive been going to Music box since I came back to MAnchester in 1999 and iVe never heard the sound so poor, Clearly eh levels were all wrong, Dream Frequency sounded shit but was never a fan anyway (by the way sparks from an angle grinder have red hot bits of metal in which make you go blind).

Also the choice of tunes wasnt great tehre were so many better tunes whih could have been played both anthems and the lesser knowns, but why were some tunes played more than once I think one was played three times.

Ive heard all the old skool djs at other events in both Manchester and London and had a good night but it saddens me to say that last night was quite poor.

The MC asking Manchester why we wernt raving well ask anyone and the above is your answer.

What a dissapointment. Im hopeing the next Back By Dope Demand is back to what it should be as I had many a good night at Timeless, Decadance, Hair fo teh Dog, Reclaim the Beats etc. I know Manchester can do better.:naughty: :(

Got there at 10pm, no tunes due one of the decks being fubared... 2 more decks later and we have tunes, nice set by cano&tracey. Up next with butty&recca , really enjoyed there tunes , also was pissing myself at rob thurston trying to be a mc !Next up was the man himself , rob thurston , quality set if you ask me . Next up was Dream frequency Pa , think they did about 4 songs, i didnt really enjoy them tbh , bit of a letdown .... at least they could of sang live! . The legend stu allen was up next played a quality set, tune aftert tune! Mark xtc followed stu with some more anthems. All in all a decent night, good to see neil, tracey, butty, recca, rob, stu, marc!!!

i dont think the no sound till 10.20 or the sound quality had anything to do with bbdd , it was poor organising on behalf of the music box tbh, all there issues!

Well I can believe that the poor organisation was down to the music box as tehr use dto be so many good nights on there not just oldschool, used go to sunrise but they lost atht years ago cos of the bad management.

Still dont think the choice of tunes or mixing was all taht good tho, and i have heard a lot better from the djs in question, But then who am I to judge as I tried djing years ago and was shite lol.

To be fair I did bounce about a bit but I was dissapointed and I dont think it would be too harsh to say that dream frequencise performance was shite.

Ah well hope I enjoy the next one better-sure I will.

eh up markmarkmarkmarkmark :D

sorry to hear u had a shodder mate, the early probs were due to the deck bein knacked twice and they have an onsite sound engineer who was tryin to sort out the sound for most of the night.

there was problems with it only coming out of one channel - unfortunately there wasnt much that could be done apart from tell the sound guy to sort it which was done loads of times. will speak to tim n see if the club can put a different sound guy on for next time.

personally i didnt hear a tune played twice (altho i did end up wasted :D ) n thought there was a decent range of tunes from slower to quicker stuff n harder to cheesey as hell lol but people have diffrent slants on old skool and what is one persons dog cack could be the next persons gold dust :) let me know what sort of tunes your on about you would have prefered to hear and il make sure that some get dropped on the next un for ya

re: back by dope demand

I di bounce about a bit but i left just after 2 so maybe tunes got better then. When I used to go to sunrise at teh box the sound was pretty dam good maybe different sound guy didnt evens ee one n the cage to be honest.

Not saying it was stotally shit just wasnt the best old skool night iVe ever had. But my main gripe is Mancs lack of organisation does my swede you flyer said 3 music box said 4 other websites said otehrs things, city life claims that various evenst are happeninga t 3 different venues or 3 events ahppening at the same venue at the same time.

Of course non of that is your fault but if you intend to make the box your peramenet home youw ant to kicj em up teh arse a bit loads of goo clubs fukced the place of over the last few years.

BY thw ay the tune taht was played more than once was that woman over amn one (always forget what its caleld) and thats one tune I really really hate, altho im sure others love it.

If i seem liek a moaning cnt its just cos old skool and psytrance are my meens of escape and oldskool is by far my first love so I like it to be right anyway that list:

Blame-Music Takes You, The Brothers Grim-Exodus (the lion one), Liquid-Liquid is Liquid, M17 Rockin down the house, all teh altern 8 tunes particularly infiltarte 202, made in 2minutes, sucha feeling-bizzarre inc,dms-dreamworld, gem77-never felt this way, shining in the darkness-nookie

Had me old riddler tapes on whilst repainting me windows :fekked:

anyway list of some of my tunes i like:

Sorry you had a shit night due to the tunes , mixing and sound system. personal note to myself to dig deeper into my collection next time... Blame-Music Takes You, The Brothers Grim-Exodus (the lion one), Liquid-Liquid is Liquid, M17 Rockin down the house, all teh altern 8 tunes particularly infiltarte 202, made in 2minutes, sucha feeling-bizzarre inc,dms-dreamworld, gem77-never felt this way, shining in the darkness-nookie - all of them i had in my box (s) but i felt for the time of night i played it would of been maybe a little too hard... ( looks like i was wrong in this case ) as for my mixing.. apologise if that wasnt to your liking.. i can but keep trying.

Even timeless used to throw in a couple of harder tunes. Bouncy stuff is ok but some other stuff as well would be good, were not all 19 year old blonde teeny boppers ya know:fekked:

Yeah Mark XTC's set was fookin ace! I didnt get there till late so only heard Marks set in full and crowd were loving his "harder" tunes.

When I went on after Mark, I played some house for first 2 or 3 tracks and it didn't go down as well as usual so, being the versatile dj I am, lol. I dug out the breaks with tracks like reckless karnage, house crew, convert nightbird, mix factory, etc. and they went down a storm!

Mikemikemike, u shud have stayed!

BBDD is becoming more & more of a varied event with different styles being thrown into the mix and I've never heard anyone complain about it.

Being a Manchester event, the DJ's usually favor the house sounds purely because its what the majority of the clubbers want, but djs like myself, Cano & the residents always try to add a bit of variety to it whilst at the same time, pleasing the more fickle and younger old skoolers out there.

This is a general old skool night encompassing all styles not an event limited to breaks/bleeps/hardcore. And in my opinion, its one fo the best events to have featured up North since Timeless. Nuff said!

150 clubbers screaming "One more tune" after the music had stopped for over 5 minutes (4:10am) says it all!
