Read this book while I was in Vegas! [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0753820773/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0297849034&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=1NQMHPKFRYQ4S3F1DJMH]The Man Behind the Shades: The Rise and Fall of Stuey 'The Kid' Ungar, Poker's Greatest Player: Amazon.co.uk: Nolan Dalla: Books[/ame]

Amazing read, read the last 1/3 of it on the plane home as I was so hooked! Hahaha.

It's about this guy named Stuey Ungar whose Father owned a bar-cum-gambling establishment and that's where he got his interest in cards from. This guy had an AMAZING talent with cards and also reading people so was truely gifted at gin rummy and, eventually, poker which he picked up quickly, with ease.

His Father did not approve of gambling and when Stuey's Father died, it lifted the lid on his card playing and he eventually dropped out of school.

Stuey mingled with the mob and had such a talent for playing cards that they took him to Vegas where his addiction to gambling/his career really kicked off.
He won The World Series of Poker 3 times and is also the only person to win Amarillio Slim's Super Bowl of Poker three times, the world's second most prestigious poker title during its time amongst many other high-end tournaments and won millions (they said about $32million) in his career, yet died at the age of 45 with hardly a penny to his name after gambling it all away, as well as a massive drug habit.

Defo worth a read, so sad and interesting!!! :D

Montauk: The Alien Connection [Paperback]
Stewart Swerdlow (Author)

Reveals the most amazing story yet to surface in the area of alien abduction. This is an autobiographical and factual account from Swerdlow, a gifted mentalist who was born clairvoyant but haunted by strange time-space scenarios. After suffering alien abductions and government manipulations, Stewart met Nichols and discovered his own role in time travel experiments, known as the Montauk Project. After refusing to break his association with Nichols, Stewart was incarcerated by the authorities but the truth began to reveal itself. Struggling for his life, Stewart used his mental abilities to overcome the negative influences surrounding him and ultimately discovered the highest common denominator in the alien equation -- an interdimensional language which communicates to all conscious beings.

The Basement
Frederick Forsyth's The Afgan

Sometime before the events of the story take place, a joint MI6/CIA/ISI raid against al Qaeda (AQ) operatives in Pakistan uncovers documents concerning a planned, but largely cryptic, terrorist attack. This raises concerns and triggers further investigations authorised at the most senior level.

Mike Martin, is now a retired SAS officer. Educated in Iraq and physically able to pass for an Afghan (his maternal grandmother was a Bengali-Indian named Indira Bohse who contributed to his chestnut-brown complexion which somehow makes him look like an Arab (or later on, Afghan) Martin has a near-perfect command of Arabic and is also familiar with Afghanistan and the Pashtun language, Pashto. He is chosen (due entirely to an overheard gaffe by his brother who is a member of the expert "Koran committee" of academics specialising in ancient texts) to infiltrate the highest echelons of AQ, by impersonating an AQ prisoner, Izmat Khan, currently held at Guantanamo Bay. In the story it is revealed that prior to Martin's escapades in Iraq he had worked with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation where he met Osama Bin Laden and rescued a young Afghan boy, Izmat Khan, who later became a resistance leader. Khan is portrayed as an heroic Afghan freedom fighter determined to have vengeance against America and careless of his life following the bombing of his village in the Tora Bora mountains which killed his family.

In a highly covert operation Martin is successful in impersonating "The Afghan" (under the code word "crowbar"), a prisoner held in Guantanamo Bay for over five years. Following his re-infiltration to Afghanistan as a repatriated prisoner, and his subsequent stage-managed escape, he makes his way back to an al Qaeda safe house in Pakistan, where he is accepted as a compatriot following his security clearance by "The Sheik", Osama Bin Laden due to the brief encounter years before.

He makes contact with AQ and volunteers to get involved in a suicidal terrorist attack which involves hijacking and re-berthing a tanker off Borneo carrying liquid petroleum gas. Another group hijack a cargo ship in the Caribbean, although this is intended to serve as a cynical decoy. Martin successfully alerts his handlers to the general nature of the threat, but is left incommunicado for several weeks as the ship steams to the US Eastern Seaboard. Despite general mayhem and murder, Martin does not appear to have an actual job description in the plot and never gets personally involved in murdering or torturing any innocent bystanders, so is effectively a supernumerary.

Izmat Khan escapes from US captivity after a US fighter jet accidentally crashes into the secret hiding place in Washington state where Izmat is incarcerated, destroying his guards and the compound wall whilst leaving him unscathed and free to walk out. He is finally shot dead trying to warn his allies using a public phone in Canada, after a long chase across the Cascades.

Eventually the tanker reaches the mid-Atlantic, where a G8 summit is, imaginatively, being held on the Queen Mary 2 liner. Martin finally learns that the terrorists intend to release and then ignite the gas on board the tanker, which could incinerate the Queen Mary 2 as it passed within range. Martin's last minute heroism, quick reflexes and self-sacrifice prevent a tragedy.

10/10 in my opinion, I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Well worth a read

From the Glastonbury Oracle Many readers will be unfamiliar with the writings of Aleister Crowley although they may well be aware of his name and the notoriety attached to it. This book by Paul Weston is a major work that puts aside much of the glamour and drama and takes a deeper look at Crowley's legacy, putting him in context with some of his contemporaries, such as Jung, Gurdjieff, Steiner and Aldous Huxley. Paul also undertakes an entertaining study of some of those strongly influenced by Crowley, including Jack Parsons, L. Ron Hubbard, Kenneth Grant, Gerald Gardner, Timothy Leary and Robert Anton Wilson. This book is dense with research and further subjects include psychedelics, Nazi occultism and UFOlogy. It is a book of contrasts, exploring light and dark, the inspired and the ridiculous, with humour, sceptism and a willingness to believe anything and nothing. A core focus of the book is the phenomenon of communication with discarnate or alien entities and the question of whether such communications are true, deliberately misleading or objectively unreal. Crowley's Book of the Law, communicated by a being known as Aiwass, has proved curiously prophetic, beautiful and unpleasant in unequal measure and has remained an inspiration and enigma for the last hundred years or so. What is less well known is that the far more respectable Carl Jung wrote a similar work Seven Sermons to the Dead received around 1916 through an entity named Basilides. Such entities appear to have taken different forms through the centuries as deities, fairies, angels, demons and extraterrestrials. UFOlogy in the twentiethe century has offered a cornucopia of obscure communications and wild conspiracy theories, some of which are recounted here. Another focus of the book is mysticism and inner spiritual development. Crowley was an eclectic and highly disciplined spiritual practitioner and part of his legacy is his popularisation of a wide variety of spiritual paths. He created his own framework of spiritual development with a large nod towards the Golden Dawn with key concepts of contact with one's Holy Guardian Angel or true will and a journey across the Abyss to a state of higher consciousness. I found myself a little adrift in the complexities of one of the later section of Paul's book, dealing with the infinitely obscure Montauk legend, which was oddly appropriate given that if this book follows a linear Qabalistic Tree of Life pattern, I was probably bobbing around in the Abyss section in a state of dispersal. Undoubtedly, illumination is provided in the uplifting final chapter with an exposition of Timothy Leary's 8 circuit model of consciousness and a large input of Paul's personal inspiration. The subject of the experiment is our own individual consciousness and the ways in which we can affect it. Limitations are of our own choosing. This book is the result of decades of research and self exploration and is a worthy successor to Robert Anton Wilson's Cosmic Trigger, revealing many obscure and hidden events in twentieth century occult history. More than that, the book provokes creative thought and I can recommend it to all open minded and adventurous seekers.

Great book, currently about half way through, lots of interesting connections between things you wouldnt connect usually.

[ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grimoires-History-Magic-Owen-Davies/dp/0199590044/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325160481&sr=8-1-spell]Grimoires: A History of Magic Books: Amazon.co.uk: Owen Davies: Books[/ame]

What is a grimoire? The word has a familiar ring to many people, particularly as a consequence of such popular television dramas as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. But few people are sure exactly what it means. Put simply, grimoires are books of spells that were first recorded in the Ancient Middle East and which have developed and spread across much of the Western Hemisphere and beyond over the ensuing millennia. At their most benign, they contain charms and remedies for natural and supernatural ailments and advice on contacting spirits to help find treasures and protect from evil. But at their most sinister they provide instructions on how to manipulate people for corrupt purposes and, worst of all, to call up and make a pact with the Devil. Both types have proven remarkably resilient and adaptable and retain much of their relevance and fascination to this day. But the grimoire represents much more than just magic. To understand the history of grimoires is to understand the spread of Christianity, the development of early science, the cultural influence of the print revolution, the growth of literacy, the impact of colonialism, and the expansion of western cultures across the oceans. As this book richly demonstrates, the history of grimoires illuminates many of the most important developments in European history over the last two thousand years.

The other one Im reading is this

STONE AGE PSYCHEDELIA: Psychedelic Secrets of the Royal Elite in the Ancient World - a new book by CHRIS EVERARD with introduction by LIONEL FANTHORPE (presenter of Fortean TV). Almost two decades in the writing, with full-time research covering three continents, British author and film maker CHRIS EVERARD presents in this large format, fully illustrated book, the secret history of the Royal-Political elite in the ancient world. STONE AGE PSYCHEDELIA presents corroborated archaeological evidence, maps, diagrams, documents and photos... It is the first book which charts the existence of Egyptian mummies in north America, and presents laboratory analysis of the mummy of King Ramses II - which conclusively proves that hallucinogenic plants from south America & the USA were ingested & traded in Egypt. Chris Everard's quest begins in Iraq & Egypt, examining carvings which are more than 2,000 years old, showing erectile serpents and humanoid figures with the heads of toads - these strange humanoid-amphibians are depicted alongside Egyptian priests, taking part in ceremonies... The ELONGATED SKULLS of the rulers of ancient Iraq & Egypt are investigated - proving that the royal elite looked very very different to normal human beings. This priesthood were using ancient herbs and saps and mushrooms to adjust their brain chemistry and tap into images & visions of the SPIRITWORLD... These visionary, prophetic rulers inspired the corpus of Gnostic texts... This book is the result of a seventeen year long quest - delving deep into the Creation Myths of Egypt, and meetings with high level Magicians, Druids, Satanists, Freemasons, Astronomers & Archaeoloists. Chris Everard's investigation has uncovered the deepest arcane secrets of FreeMasonry and taught him how to use hallucinogenic plants to SEE and TELEPATHICALLY COMMUNICATE with the OGDOAD Gods... Fully illustrated with full colour 16 page chapter, More than 300 PAGES, this is a monumental book.

[ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Supernatural-Meetings-Ancient-Teachers-ebook/dp/B004EYSYBK/ref=dp_kinw_strp_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3TVV12T0I6NSM]Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind eBook: Graham Hancock: Amazon.co.uk: Kindle Store[/ame]

>>
"Supernatural: of or relating to things that cannot be explained according to natural laws."Less than 50,000 years ago mankind had no art, no religion, no sophisticated symbolism, no innovative thinking. Then, in a dramatic and electrifying change, described by scientists as "the greatest riddle in human history", all the skills and qualities that we value most highly in ourselves appeared already fully formed, as though bestowed on us by hidden powers. In Supernatural Graham Hancock sets out to investigate this mysterious "before-and-after moment" and to discover the truth about the influences that gave birth to the modern human mind. His quest takes him on a journey of adventure and detection from the stunningly beautiful painted caves of prehistoric France, Spain and Italy to remote rock shelters in the mountains of South Africa where he finds a treasure trove of extraordinary Stone Age art. He uncovers clues that lead him to travel to the depths of the Amazon rainforest to drink the powerful plant hallucinogen Ayahuasca with Indian shamans, whose paintings contain images of "supernatural beings" identical to the animal-human hybrids depicted in prehistoric caves and rock shelters. And hallucinogens such as mescaline, also produce visionary encounters with exactly the same beings. Scientists at the cutting edge of consciousness research have begun to consider the possibility that such hallucinations may be real perceptions of other "dimensions". Could the "supernaturals" first depicted in the painted caves and rock shelters be the ancient teachers of mankind? Could it be that human evolution is not just the "blind", "meaningless" process that Darwin identified, but something else, more purposive and intelligent, that we have barely even begun to understand?

Stargate Conspiracy

1 of the books I read on hols

Stargate Conspiracy: Revealing the truth behind extraterrestrial contact, military intelligence and the mysteries of ancient Egypt: Amazon.co.uk: Lynn Picknett, Clive Prince: Books

>>
Recent exciting discoveries by independent researchers have dramatically challenged our understanding of ancient Egypt, raising profound questions about our past. STARGATE CONSPIRACY exposes the most insidious & dangerous plan of our times. It involves intelligence agencies, politicians, bestselling writers, scientists & industrialists. The authors believe that this conspiracy, centred upon the eternal mysteries of ancient Egypt, targets & threatens us all. Tracing the identity of the groups involved, Lynn Picknett & Clive Prince argue that at the heart of this strange plan is the belief that the ancient Egyptian gods were-and are-real extraterrestrials, about to return through the 'stargate' between our world & theirs. They suggest that the US-funded excavations on the Giza plateau - officially denied, but for which the authors produce documented evidence - now appear to be the result of directives allegedly received through communication with beings of higher intelligence, who are instructing the conspirators to lay the foundations for great global changes. Provocative & stimulating, STARGATE CONSPIRACY is a book of and for the new millennium.
<<

Stunning book it has it all, very bizarre and totally head mashing in places, WOW!

It also gets into the whole taking of the ayasua plant drug with DMT and communicating with your own DNA and stuff, by talking to winged dragon gods who say they came to this planet to hide amongst the multitude of forms.. Startling book a must read:fekked:

Synchromysticism and synchronicity play a large part in this book

There are some awesome sections from some of the bloggers and some that didnt resonate to me that much

One thing I will say is that if like me your into this kind of stuff already, occult, conspiracy, mysticism, coincidences, numerology, old esoteric religions, ancient symbols etc, then you WILL notice a lot more symbols jumping out at you almost in bold (with a sign on it saying 'look here' lol) you will also find your own syncs (basic example see a blue car, then see blue cars all day lol) while watching a film say and then that something will popup somewhere else shortly after in something you read, a sign in a shop window etc etc, its then up to you whether you want to investigate it or not. Cos it will mean something about the NOW in you, connecting past present and future. Read it.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Dirt-Mo...9157/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355748111&sr=8-1

>>
Motley Crue was the voice of a barely pubescent Generation X, the anointed high priests of the power ballad, and the pioneers of Hollywood glam. Their sex lives claimed celebrities like Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson as well as teenage groupies all over the world. When they weren't appeasing their voracious sexual appetites, Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Mick Mars cultivated their other interests - collecting automatic weapons, creating long and lurid rap sheets, doing every conceivable drug in every conceivable fashion and dreaming up backstage antics that would make Ozzy Osbourne blanch with modesty. Provocatively written and brilliantly designed, this book includes over 100 photos for the most insightful look ever into the Crue - the most infamous band in the world. The Dirt spent four weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and sold over 13,000 copies in hardback in the UK.
<<

Now I think Motley crew music is shit, the point here is the lives of these people when the band got started to its breakdown, and you would not believe the stuff they got up to. Sex, Massive amounts of drugs n booze, groupies, breakdowns, near deaths, huge egos, fighting, puking a lot. Surprised they are still alive. These were a depraved bunch!

There is another book the heroine diaries, by band member nicky sixx, which I will be reading next. Hope its as sick and twisted as 'The Dirt'

ACE BOOK!
