carrying on the zone tune aaargument!
ste,
can i just chip in my 2 penneth mate ?
although this thread didn't start off as a 'let's slate melodyhouse & zone' type it has a little bit anyway, but i'll just say i like all of those italian tunes mentioned.whether it be 'technoage-moving on' or all the 'dj edamtastical' ones we've mentioned,i love em all.from 1990-1997,which is about as far as my zone-type collection goes, they're all wicked in my opinion.i guess i'm just into that italian sound, and whether i listen to a 91 tune or a 94 tune, they all sound italian and they all have their element of italian cheeziness.
i've mentioned 'technoage' before for a reason.there have been several 'zone' tunes over the years that have used the ice-t rap as the main part of the tune, but it's because the bigger djs had sacked the italian sound off a few years previous and which is why i think it's became known as cheezy.
your right in saying blackpool took that sound on as their own,but there were other places in the country i.e. the newcastle region, which played records of mainly italian origin.i reckon more places never played em because of their rare-ness.ther were only a few places really in england that you could have gotten these tunes from at the time (1994 i mean),other than to get em from abroad and with no internet back then (to be realistic) that would have been pretty hard.although tony de vit was known to have played some italian so he must have got em from somewhere..?
brings me to my final point though,
just how many people did have the tunes at the time???
how many people do you peeps know that had 'kc element-going on' at the time back in 1990 ????? not many eh??
that's just like how many people have certain tunes from '94.
i know melodyhouse keeps a record of how many copies of certain tunes he had in stock at the time....half a dozen....3...and sometimes even 1 copy of a tune.that 1 copy that got played and someone loved so much that they're the ones that are offering £400 for a tune...and don't worry,it ain't moi either..even though it might seem like i'm having a good whinge,i'm just trying to make a point!!!
like someone mentioned before, you'd sell em for the same if you had em...
all the best
mikey
p.s. a lot of records are getting released now in the dance scene which are covers of happy hardcore records...which was considered cheezy as f**k and i still don't like it myself.some records recently have had a strange likeness to some 1994-5 italian stuff,so it may just have it's day again sometime..
cheerz again
