There's another way of resizing pics without even downloading and installing new software if you use Windows XP.
Click on the image to open it and then right click on the image.
move the mouse to 'Open With' and move across to 'Paint'
in 'Paint' at the top you'll see 'File' 'edit' 'view' 'image' 'colors' 'help'
Click on 'Image' go down to 'Stretch/Skew' and change the 'Horizontal' and 'Vertical' percentages down to a suitable size.
Then go to 'File' (at the top of the screen) 'Save as' (give the file a name and select location) and make sure the 'Save as type' is set as JPEG (which will keep the image size down)
