no worries sirius , i hate to bother ppl like this , im a right pain in the arse , the hi-fi has no phono , its a midi....designed without the intention of having turntables connected to it

ive swapped the leads every way they will go......

its obviousley not meant to be , ill have to look elsewhere for diff kit i think

if you cant get a decent level via any ports on your hi fi, it sounds as though there is something up with the amplifier. theres no fancy switches on it like on my studio mixer is there? if the wrong little button is depressed it sort of mutes the signal :0

You should be able to get a good signal via at least one 'source' selection.....Turntables are bad for not having any apmlification at all.

Plugging your turntable without a pre amp of some kind is not gonna do m8 unfortunately.

I dunno what else to try. Wrong sockets and switched connections give the symptoms you are on about, yet so does not having any amplification from your record player.......

Hope you sort it m8. Give us a shout again if youre stuck with owt.

1. let's ignore the 'amp'
2. does your midi hifi have a phono input?? I doubt an aux input is boosted so probably not much good even if it has one.
3. If it does have phono input, connect leads from deck to hifi and earth the deck to the hifi.
4. Switch midi to phono setting and either use leads from headphone socket or a line-out on the midi and connect it to the line in of your soundcard with suitable adapter lead.
5. If all else fails try connecting to aux on your hifi but i doubt it will work.
6. Make sure your soundcard is set to record from line-in otherwise you'll hear naff all

there has got to be some fundamental thing you are doing wrong if you still cant do it.....have you plugged in some speakers to make sure the amp works???

make sure the amp is set to the phono input.

we'll get you there in the end;)

erm...you're sure that the turntable works ??

with proper amp should be piece of piss to hear something...red to red connector, white to white. Possibly try some different leads as they might be shagged? earth the deck to stop buzzing. You defo need to plug it into the phono sockets on the back of the amp as this will be the only input that is properly amplified, on the other inputs the amp will assume (as much as a piece of metal and electronics can do) that the input is already amplified to an acceptable level.

apart from that, I cant think of anything else that might be wrong

Fukkin Nora Batty's Stockins'......

Bit of a marathon that m8. The errrm 'Amp' sort of explained a few things mate!. These black boxes all look the same innit? lol.

Everybodys got thier fave software and says its best......I use CoolEdit Pro, because it does exactly what it says on the tin with no fannying about.....

Dont forget to 'Normalise' your recordings to get them all nice and the same level. Oh, and if theres rumbling and hissing or any other background sound before the needle hits the record, sort it out now not later!.......

Cheerio,

Sirius.
