Music is music if you're enjoying what you hear is it important what format its in?? Just dance, smile & be happy
well said Tina
does it really matter what its played on or how its made or even who its by, if it sounds good to you thats all that matters phones: phones: phones:
i might have guessed you would have that classic 1979 Nolan sisters track, I'm in the mood for dancing, glued to your right deck
as for the poll I'm gonna vote mp3 :$ and here are my reasons why, i sold all my vinyl around 93, and 83ish-93 spent far too much money on vinyl
not that i didn't enjoy it i played out for a couple of years lugged crates and 1210s up 2 flights of stairs every Fri & sat and spilt many pints of beer over those treasured black disc's. and loved every minute, then i got sick of spending all my cash trying to keep up with the latest sounds to spin at the weekend mainly for others benefit, and with the death of warehouse parties and the sudden boom of every tom dick and stiletto clad disco dolly become overnight ravers,(i know that sounds snobby, but the scene lost what appealed to me when it became mainstream) i just got bored with the whole thing, so hung up the phones and sold up.
i bought Cd's after that just steady away if i really liked them and taped the essential mix most weeks and that fed my needs for music, i even bought a Phillips cd recorder so i could put tapes onto cd
then came the tinter net and p2p, and yep i will hold my hand up and admit i grabbed all the tunes i used to own and a good few more for free,
yes some are not the best quality in the world, but i honestly can say hand on heart i have not downloaded a record that i would have bought if it wasn't available for free. i still buy Cd's, if i really like a band or tune i do buy it. but 98% of stuff i have was grabbed for free, i can understand how annoying it would be for anyone who has searched and payed allot of money for a tune on vinyl, and someone else just dl for free
but thats just how it is I'm affraid...:S as for all this vinyl purist thing I'm gonna be honest and say its bollox, i hear time and time again that its so much easier to DJ digital, well maybe straight forward mixing is, but the boundaries, remixes, re-edits and tools available are endless for the digital DJ
if they can be arsed to use them. most of the top DJ use new technology, but I'm with whoever said they prefer to see a DJ spinning vinyl than Cd's or mp3, i hate seeing a live DJ scrolling through a laptop, but most of the music i hear, is DJ mixes i have downloaded from soundcloud and if it sounds great i couldn't give a flying how they made it phones:
i don't DJ now, but have once played on osa, and i did borrow a friends 1210s and used vinyl, but I'm 98% mp3 for what i need, but the question is if i won the lotto and could afford too, buy a complete set up.
i would buy a numark ns7, and buy the best quality mp3s available to spin, because the options for adventure and imagination with digital wipes the floor with vinyl. and thats a slightly fresh, honest opinion, which i know wont go down well with the vinyl collectors
after reading that i ought to just add, i rarely listen to mp3s either these days unless its a mix i have burned to CD for the car, most of the music i listen too is on youtube....or internet radio..
