amelie i just sent sasha an email, heres his reply-

Dear easty please tell amelie I am extremely greatful for her support in the past and I am not an arrogant man, those were good times back in the day but people move on.
What people must undersatand is that i would love to play them tunes again but the only peeps who would be interested are 30 odd year olds. Now I do not wish to cause offence but why would I wanna dj and have to look at a load of 30 odd year old women who caned it back in the day and look rough as fukk, when I can play on my ableton and cop for a load of 20 year old hotties. Its common sense surely, lookin at a lovely pert breasts or lookin at 30 odd year olds with teeth fallin out. Now amelie might be one of the lucky ones, comin out the other side with her looks but one lady doesnt make a bath full and i have big bottles of fizz to get through.
Hope fully some time in the future i will play them tunes but I will have to wait till the prices of em come down as i cant afford 60 pound for technoage
Take it easy;)

Lol, although tis funny- its more so hitting the nail on the head more than i ever could.

I would (and did) risk being grounded for months, climb dangeroulsy out of bedroom windows (nice scarige on limbs lol for this), ruin reletionships with pretty much all of my family members, obtain a criminal record and gain a rather shitty education. Not to metntion the crazy times running across feilds whilst being chased by police dogs, and ending up in totally random places with no means of getting home just to be lucky enough to have one more night of pure ecstasy in the format of a DJ who played amazing records and being surrounded by total hedonism where nothing matters but having a good time.

The Dj's then (as many still do) had passion for what it was about- the music. To maintain such passion for 15 years for a movement that changed many peoples lives is for me, what sepertaes a DJ with intergrity and one that just plays out to make money or to look at pert tits. Its equiv of selling your old skool soul to suggest thats how you chose your audience.

As for the age debate, i have always felt it unfair that the golden oldies lol look down somewhat on the young ones. But if the way you describe current Sasha nights out are anything to go by, i will happily accept my suposed 'rough' look lol, as along with my peers who i am sure will agree- i would not swap my amazing old skool experience for wrinkle free skin and some arrogant twat playing average shit for anything. When i am old i will look back on my youth with excitment and praise, i will not, thank fuck be arsed what it was i looked like whilst doing so.

what did ian brown sing, the past was yours but the futures mine? well itas true you can slowly pass the time of day thinking what once was or you can carry on enjoying life and progressin, the future is more important than the past:thumbsup:

Jonno and I met Micky Don the other day by accident, he seems a nice bloke. Have you heard any of his shows on Unity?

Agian, you are missing the whole point. No-one is arsed that it is in the past, infact i for one am happy with this. God forbid i would ever have to drag my sorry wrinkly ass and toothless gob out every week for nights out.

I think the point that i was making, and one which you totally overlooked- was that Sasha is viewed by some as an arrogant twat not for changing his muscal style, but for being such a nob that he can't even pay homage to the scene which made him big.

I really think you misunderstand those who experienced the old skool movement first hand. I really can't be arsed getting into a debate over it- but lets be honest- some of the most interesting radio shows on here have been by older people who dare to play slightly different stuff. To suggest that anyone would have a go at Nipper for playing breakbeat is daft, those true fans of old skool appreciate all that influenced, made and was part of the sound of old skool. This means having respect for many genres, hip hop, disco, soul etc. No-one is asking for time to stop still, but again i reiterate the point you choose to ignore. Respect the past and those/what that put you were you are, regardless of where you may be in the future.

I totally agree with you amelie about missunderstanding those that experienced supposed old skool 1st, I find on osa peeps are too precious about it all, the people I know who are that bit older than me are the ones who went hippos, thunderdome, konsriracy etc. These are the people I used to speak to about the apparent golden days and none of them could name you a tune, never mind a dj. They went out to get out of it and have a good time. I was exactly the same, I could not give a toss who was on the dex.
Now for your point about paying homage to the past which made em big, well Manchester city fans do that and there the most bitter and sad bastards i have ever met cand I should know as i'm a city fan
As for your point about the older ones playin different stuff on the radio, (a) I don't know what that has got to do with sasha bein arrogant but (b) your wrong as no one has played a different variety of stuff on the radio as me, absolutely no where near and I'm one of the youngest who goes on there.

Sure, he can turn his back on old skool as he feels he has progressed musically, but to actually look down on it when its what made him in mental lol.

He has never turned his back on oldskool, he's never was in to it!!!

He has always played the most upfront house throwing in obscure/ hard to get tunes that he knows will rock the joint...thats all he did then and that all he does now.. (I say all but he's sprinkles magic dust on to it lol)

He's been leading the pack for ni on 16 years. why does he want to go back and play old music!!!

Lol, I don't think anybody is talking about him being into "old skool" and calling it old skool at the time :axe:

Or are you saying he was never into his piano tunes etc at the time

I met

has anyone actually met sasha to say hes arrogant or got his head up his own arse?
People move on and progress, maybe he thinks theres no point me playin that old stuff and theres thousands doin what i was doin 15 years ago so whats the point.
Plus amelie would you wear the same clothes u were wearing in 1990? I bet you look at pictures of yourself and cringe and think thank fukk i dont have to waer them anymore. sasha probably feels the same about his tunes
Now form the sets I've heard, I am not inmot sasha at all but for peeps to come on here and call him arrogant if they have not met him or spoke to him is a bit poor

him dancing his arse off downstairs in the basement of a club in london in 1994 with his missus was smiling and having a great time didn't seem too twattish then

As the first parra seems somewhat a conclusion of us agreeing, i shall leave it there.

Re: Footy- eh? You have lost me. I know i am thick as pigshit (and as the mighty Sash suggests teamed with saggy tits and a nasherless gob- go on, visulaise it lol, i dare ya's, infact double dare you!) but you can't suggest that just cos a footy team you support are as bitter as a pack of Tesco Disco Metro value lemons then all who pay homage to the past are the same? Lol, i happen to be part of a rather established synchonized swimming team that are actully quite big (we made it to the counrty finals). Now whenever i pass old Leyland baths with its constant threat of Legionnaires disease and little pool that stinks of baby piss i still bow to my sensei so to speak. It can be done. Again this is the point i am making.

As for the radio, i was merely pointing out that you suggest a corrilation between older memebrs and a general lack or moving on to new music, or indeed living in some kind of old skool vacum in which any change is met with an autsitic style tantrum (i think we can all poke fun at the staff at HTFR for wearing Naf NAF and driving lilac girls cars in 2006). I was stating that in actual fact i have seen more new stuff being played from older (including myself) than from younger ones, surley that shows how embracing we all are of new sounds, yet still managing to mingle it with old skool.
