The right blend of funky house is the best music to dance to bar old skool obviously:)

There are many funky house tunes all you old skool heads would love. I dont give a fk about the posers, nob eds, you get just as many cocks in old skool clubs if not more lol (often cocks of the aggressive manner:cops: )

Went to 2Risque (at north) a few months back to have a break from old skool, top mint amazing night, with NO COCKs trying to spoil things. Yeah there were a few posers there but who gives a flying fk, its different these days dont mean you cant have a good time.

Go go, go to it, Ive heard good things about that place, me and dann have been meaning to check it out and will some time soon.

I would call the music at 2 risque cheesy house compaerd to the stuff they play at ampersand. Personaly I like 2 risque, it's a top night out.
I would strogly advise you to stay away from ampersand unless your proper fit and you want to cop for a footballer.
The best funky house night that there is within greater manchester is rude at the gallery in Oldham. The club is well smarter than ampersand (it is part of a multi million pound art gallery) The people who go love the night and are not pretensious. The dj's are well better with the likes of russ from out in the sticks and oz on there. This night has been going for 10 years and you have to be doing something special to be going that long. if your after a night out listening to funky house in splendid surroundings then rude is the night for you

I'm gonna print this out and show russ just to watch his head baloon. To be honest i have not heard much of his mixes, but as a bloke he is absolutely sound

The things that gets me about poser clubs is people want to seem so cool that they will dance very slowly, or not at all in order to not break a sweat. lol

i could well imagine

some of the clienteles faces recoil in horror as yourself and mr weardon did a hipoosesque set in there. actually most of them would probably think it was the new "in thing" and start dancing to it. or did you mean you want to shag the woman in there senseless? as disco dave in there is incapable of putting up a good show.

Northern Star,

Did you actually go clubbing in the early 90's? I aint talking raves I am talking dance clubs, venus, renaissance etc..... this is what it was like, if you werent dressed right you wouldnt get in etc etc. You had to put on an act to get in...... Having read Valentinas post she was messing not saying she was like that. Nowadays they let anyone in to get their cash, years back it they could be a tad more selective, which gave decent clubs their exclusivness...... chill out!!!! I know they should be so materialistic but that it what it was like.

Liisa
ive been clubbing since 1988 so yes i have a bit of experience in all kindsa clubs...no need to tell me to chill out i think u have the wrong end of the stick.......

i said that because i know it would spoil my night if i had to keep up appearences' all night.......hence the comment.....just tryin to give a diff perspective ok! :| ive been to many places like that in the early 1990's peruvia and the hacienda went that way eventually too which is why i stopped going......rennassance was good but got took over by the glam queens...now i can do it wi the best of them i just dont enjoy it..........i mean how the hell are you supposed to dance in 3 inch stillettoes!

not at all v its nice for ladies to dress up now and again and i have a wardrobe full a glam stuff i just dont like the atmosphere in these kindsa places...i far prefer the bar scene for stuff like like that as opposed to clubs cus the clubs jus dont have very good atmospheres as Easty says...

i can do it and have danced in heals im just very glad to kick um off at the end o the night and dont feel comfy doin it...if i wanna go clubbin seriously i will wear comfy shoes so i can go fer it all night long.......each to their own......

Easty I can categorically state that, the tunes at 2 Risque were not cheesy house. It was a good blend of funky house of all styles, loads of instrumentals, bongos and shit like that, then big vocal tunes, loads of twisted basslines etc etc, big atmospheric stuff. There was the odd mashup played, e.g. Ive got the midas touch, over a daft punk style beat. But all in all the music was not cheesy. What sort of tunes do they play at Ampersand then m8?

Really thinking of going to check it out for myself. Also the gallery place yeah, Sully did a night there which I played at, I agree an absolutely amazing venue, thinking of checking out that too, as Ive seen some posters up with some lineups and nights on that I would deffo dig:thumbsup:

Im into the old skool hardcore raving scene mainly personally and I goto anything ranging from illeagal squat and tent raves to clubs like Bagleys (Shut down now) and SE1(london). A lot of the girls who I go raving with like to wear jeans and trainers and genrally don't take much pride in their apperence, thats down to them though obviously, Im not going to go raving in a muddy field wareing 3 inch heals and a micro mini, but i'd still make an effort to look smart for example cow print wellys and a rara skirt didn't look bad at all a few weeks ago lol, I goto raves in hired out pubs 2 where it is all very relaxed so i dress accordinley skirts and nice tops go with traineers too, you don't need 3inch heals to look good. If im going to a big club though where I know others are looking smart not nesaccary being posers or anything just people who like to take pride in their apperance then I like to dress accordingly (nice top, good hair n make up which sometimes ends up a bit of a state I know, decent skirt and 3/4 inch healage, it never slows ME down). There have been a few times that I have gone out in jeans and trainers and been dragged out clubbing not having a chance to go home and change and I have hated it, felt really uncomfortable. I enjoy getting dressed up, its fun and if u haven't tried it, do. It all boils down to how and where you feel comfortable though init.

3inch stilettos at out door events  i made that mistake at fantazia lmaooo
of course dress to the event and everyone dress how u feel, but this thread turned into what i felt as anti funky house/well dressed people, maybe the only people that should be answering this thread is those that do like funky house its the atmosphere im more concerned about not how people dress! :S

like i said be4 can we just hav peeps commenting on ampersand and not 'upon themselves people' i mean anybody wouldhav thought they were talking about someone in particular, surely ampersand isnt full of 'upon themselves' kinda people, u cant judge a person by them bein dressed up, so ffs give all this bollocks a rest eh ;)
