just the standard for me, slow peeps in the middle lane, the police were supposed to be having a campaign on this but i've not seen much.

think their campaign involved puttin up some 'don't hog the middle lane' signs on the motorway for a couple of weeks. Did the job didn't it. :p

As for tailgaters. They prob the worst offenders on the road. I speed on the motorway yes, but if some knob then decides that it's safe to drive a few feet off my rear end at 90mph with me then he needs his head checking. I have developed a 'keep me right foot on the accelerator, and slightly press the brake pedal with me left' This way you don't slow down really but the knob behind shits his pants, brakes, an then you fook off in the distance, all be it for a short while till he's back again.

Speed bumps do my head in too. Spesh the pointless ones you just drive inbetween, what a waste. Does my head in when they fill a road with pointless bumps, but leave another road that has 2 foot deep pot holes.

it's safer to speed than to drive slower.

In a way(although i don't really think so, it's only dangerous to drive slow cos it pisses people off and then they drive stupidly), but you do far more damage should you hit something or someone when you're driving faster so it's still irresponsible.

I wonder if you'd think any differently if someone you knew got run over and killed cos of dickhead racers who bomb round residential areas with absoloutly no regard for anyone including children playing. Speed bumps serve a purpose whether you like them or not.

i can't find the info now. but it was shown that at speed, not excessive mind, but what a driver is comfortable with, that a driver is more alert and aware of their surroundings. there's a lot more collsions at slower speeds.

I can believe it, the point i was making was that the damage done when collisions do happen is far far greater at higher speeds.

Yeah, but how crap are police chases in films going to be in the future. All these speed bumps would slow the bank robbers right down. They'll end up getting caught by cops on foot cause there is so many damn bumps.

Also, the excessively high bumps can't do your car any good at all. The best traffic calming measure they come up with recently is when they put big kerbs in the middle of one side of a road so that only one lane of traffic has a right away. That way you HAVE to wait till oncoming traffic is clear b4 you can get round it. Works a treat i say.

Kind of like this

of course and i agree & there'll always be people who drive round like loons and they're the ones who are dangerous at speed.

here's something along the lines of what i was getting at, driving slightly above the average is safer for you..

http://www.abd.org.uk/speed_limits_85th.htm

i'm not talking mental speeds, just what you're comfortable with, i'd say i was much safer doing 40 than 30 just because of how i act at that speed. you're right though the damage done at that speed is a lot greater.

I dont blame em, ive banged the underneath of my car loadsa time on those blasted bumps (prob coz im goin 2 fast over em thou :$ ) but still dont make u slow down, u just get more irritated and speed up between em. plus coz my suspension is so bad, i almost get whiplash goin over em.

...hhhmmmm....whiplash....never thought of that :eyebrow:

and even thou i spose they're tryna get cars away from housing estates, the main roads are just gettin worse coz no-one can be arsed goin over the bumps. but i have to go over the bumps everyday, otherwise it would take me ten times longer to get to work :(

I do too, but it doesn't bother me in the least cos i totally respect why they are there.

Yea i understand that, and no amount of damage, money or irritation is worth someones life coz of some idiot drivin too fast, but its just so annoyin. :condom:

Dunno if this has been said already... basties that leave their indicator on when they hit a roundabout (not literally!) so it seems like they are leaving by the next left exit (from their position), so you go ahead and pull out and they swing across the exit you thought they'd take and you have a near crash.

I once remonstrated with a farmer type up near Colchester a coupla years back... he stayed in the car, his fooking wife (she was horrid I tell thee) got out and started bouncing the front of the car.

Stupid tw@ts... he'd even left the indicator on as proof (cheers pal) - and he'd stopped on the roundabout in front of me, causing a tailback.

They had to leave sharpish.

I had this woman the other day try and have a go at me for leavin me indicator on. I'd just taken a sharp left onto a new road an obviously because it was a sharp left my indicator hadn't clicked itself off. She was in this road on my left and decided to pull out causing me too slam on. Of course, horn blasted then windows down. She attempted to blame me for havin my indicator on. 2 things i said;
1. I'd jus joined the road so my indicator hadn't clicked off
2. It's a f*cking idicator to indicate that i MAY be making a manouver. It does not tell you I am definately going to make that manouver. Don't act on a little flashing orange light, act on what actually happens. Is how i was taught an am pretty sure every other road user is taught that way too. Stupid bint!!!!

Int driving mint. :D  :D

I probably do everything you have all mentioned as I am feeling me way thru this driving experience...

Mind you I have learnt the most important driving skill the past week....

Lighting a fag while driving one-handed @ 85 mph & flashing yer lights at the car yer tailgating on to intimidate the bugger to get out of yer way ;) Broooooooooooooooooooooom 306 XSI's rule :D :D :D

I do hope this is a joke.

What makes me mad, the drink driver who knocked my mates of their bikes in the past very seriously injuring one of them.

twats.

Listen mate its not as if i went out in my car drank 15 pints and then tried to drive home. i got in about 2 am and then got up and drove to work at 8.30 am thinking i would be alright, but i wasn't i was still over the limit i think we could all be a bit guilty of this. So i wouldn't class myself as a drink driver and i think people that do should not be allowed to drive again.

lol @ Shooms, keep it up son

Im on the road a lot these days, and loads of things irritate me about other drivers, in fact they should all get out of my way

One thing that does annoy me though is people who pick their nose in traffic jams and then eat it, FFS, roll it up and flick it out of the window ya minger

now i'm guilty of tail-gating like most people but you can't moan if someone slams on in front of you, you shouldn't be that near that it bothers you.. as much as i do it to other people if someone constantly does it to me i'll slam on as well.

teles_in_car_1930.jpg

nah slamming on doin 75 on an motorway is plain wrong mate. i'd pulled into the middle lane to let a van pass but it slowed down and pulled in behind me, so as i was aproaching a car infront of me, i pulled out to overtake it and the **** in the beemer who was further infront of me, thought that it was his god given right to slam on when there was no one in front of him because i'd dared change lane twice in less than a minute. i wasnt near too him at all, and when he did slam on all it caused was my paperwork to fall off the passenger seat into the footwell.. and get me well annoyed

so is this still right to do then grad? what if a lesser abled braking vehicle like a van with hefty load had suddenly pulled out and was behind me? no abs or anything he would probably have shunted me accross 3 busy lanes no doubt killing me and countless others whilst the gobshite in the beemer would have drove off unscathed. is it still right now

if he'd had the bollocks to get out of the car yesterday i would have smashed his fuckin face in and that would have been no more than he deserved
