well only a tenner!! but it does make you think.......If I won the big one I think I would promote an oldskool night down here in the south.

The big question is could I get SASHA to play a proper 90/91 shelleys/eclipse mix...obviously he would warm up for me!!:turn:

But in all seriousness does anyone know if he has ever been approached to do such a set?....Im not really up to speed on his current stuff, I know he mixes or remixes tracks live on his laptop...but is that really mixing??

I suppose money talks and if you bunged him £50,000 he might dust off his oldskool!!

DJ VERTIGO 10-12
SASHA 12-3
SY (Me!!) 3 - 6

You can but dream!!!:gigolo:

If I won the lottery i'd buy and create a party island:cool:

at least you won lol the other day i was doing the simpsons bingo game in the sun and peeled back the door and it matched the one in the paper (for anyone who does not play you open the door on your card and if the caracter matches the one in the paper you win the amount next to it)
so being the clever cnut i am i was just on my way to gloat to the rest of the lads at work when i looked again and realised i'd opened the wrong door:mad: so i'd infact won absulutly zilch

i'm so glad i realised before i said anything and showed myself up:$

ppl an djs move on and alot of djs go through phases in their career, personally for me i get the impression sasha has become a bit erm,'arrogant' if u like but who can blame him?i mean he was literally a legend,THE legend, and for me SASHA IS OLD SKOOL,it just wudnt be wot it was without him, plus admittedly thers alot of djs who wer gud bak in the day and seem to have disappeared up their own arse(not namin ne names).i mean sum of his old skool sets are jus awesome, simply awesome, quality tunes,an sum of the stuff he did i mean fukin hell droppin sinead o connor into a set!brilliant.

not that fussed on his later stuff tbh,but if thats wot he wants to do then fair enough, still think its a shame if he did spit his dummy out at the thought of doin an old skool set, upsets me even  but ther u go.

I can blame him, just because you are good at something you cant go round thinking you have monopoly on being an arrogant twat. Sure, he can turn his back on old skool as he feels he has progressed musically, but to actually look down on it when its what made him in mental lol.

I totally disagree with you saying he was old skool- imo he was just one of many good DJ's from that era- some were lucky enough to play out, some had to make do with entertaining their mates in thier bedroom and shit. Imo it was the music that made old skool what is is, and the people who went out to listen to it. There will always be DJ's willing to play. Of course i appreciate a talented and original DJ as much as the next (wo)man- but without amazing records and a happy atmosphere you have nothing.

Agreed, I've never really rated him as one of my fav djs anyways as his sets were quite inconsistent throughout, but to frown upon someone for asking him to play the music and tunes which open doors for him is just wrong :naughty:
IMO his stuff that he's playing out now is pap. Never forget your roots

.

has anyone actually met sasha to say hes arrogant or got his head up his own arse?
People move on and progress, maybe he thinks theres no point me playin that old stuff and theres thousands doin what i was doin 15 years ago so whats the point.
Plus amelie would you wear the same clothes u were wearing in 1990? I bet you look at pictures of yourself and cringe and think thank fukk i dont have to waer them anymore. sasha probably feels the same about his tunes
Now form the sets I've heard, I am not inmot sasha at all but for peeps to come on here and call him arrogant if they have not met him or spoke to him is a bit poor

I have read enough interviews, heard enough through the grapevine and shit to know he is a bit of a bell end re: old skool. You don't have to meet someone to form an opinion, you can do so on the bits of info you have. The irony is of course i doubt he would meet someone like me to discuss his twatish attitude to old skool for me to change my views!

As for the clothes, its a completley (and slightly daft) comparrison. My clothes did not catapult me into fame and fortune, nor did they give me the creative licence to do what i want with the rest of my artisic life. If they did, i am sure there would be a precious space reserved in my wardrobe for them, and for both posterity and nostalgia i would give them a good dusting off from time to time as a thank-you.

As for him feeling the same cringetastic response to tunes as i do to say, erm Troop lol and more lycra than you can shake a shitty sticky stick at (and lets not even metnion the frikkin perms), i do have to ask how much passion he had for the records in the first place (if what you are suggesting is the case). True, i do not for example have some bangin (lol) old skool tape on at 8am whilst eating my toast, but i certainly feel a flip in my tummy whenever i do listen to a great track from back in the day. I am also proud of the whole movement, and feel incredibly honoured to have played (even a minor) part in it. I certianly would never ever look down on it or judge myself to be above or better than it now my tastes have changed.

Imo its kinda like remembering, and thus respecting those on the factory floor when you make it to the top. All it takes is a little appreciative nod in the direction of the punters who travelled miles and payed thier hard earned cash to put him where he is.

but that was 15 years ago amelie. He has new 18 year old people who do exactly the same to listen to the stuff he plays now.
Amelie u cant judge someone till you have met em, Im sorry but how can you form an opinion of someone you have not even spoke to personaly
The thingf that gets me is that the peeps on here who slag sasha for progressin are exactly the same people who slag stu allan for playin the same stuff everyweek. You cant have it both ways

Newp, you are missing my point. I am not asking Sasha to swan around in a naff BM wearing leather kex and having a ponytail with the underneath bit shaved whilst playing the same old shit. What i think perhaps people would like is for him to in some way acknowledge his past rather than treating like an embarrassing case of the clap.

I don't know about the Stu Allan shiznit, as i have yet to enter/read about owt to do with him is a discussional sense. My (humble) opinion on his playing style (not that i have heard much current) is that he does not seem to have evolved much, i like it when a DJ shows a little originality and i dunno, spunk lol. Sure you can play the same old, but you can alter the way its done- or search for unkowns or drop in a few phat beats in with it lol- just mess around insted of following the old trusted recipie. It doesnt all have to be the same 100 or so records all the time played over and over. I might be wrong, i just don't listen enough to form an accurate opinion. I will however, always respect him for keeping me company on many a night when i was a young teen, and thus providing me to a sorta soundtrack to my youth when it really ws just me, a tape recorder and those few radio shows i could pick up in my bedroom. Plus that man has an amazing knowledge of hip-hop. So i guess again unlike Sasha, although i might not be a fan of Stu pot anymore, i still talk of him in a respectfull manner.

As for forming an opinion without meeting someone, of course you can- its life. How would i vote, infact how would the politcal world survive if every individual were to take the stance of reserving judgement intill a face to face meeting took place. I have yet to meet Ian Brown but i would bet my last ten spot he is a reet wanker, same as with Jay Kay. I have yet to meet Mazzer Carey yet i belive her to be a pathetic diva who probs cires and runs for the hills at the sight of dog shit or something. I am not out of order for doing so, i have made my opinion based on the bits of info i have been given, as i said- its life.

amelie i just sent sasha an email, heres his reply-

Dear easty please tell amelie I am extremely greatful for her support in the past and I am not an arrogant man, those were good times back in the day but people move on.
What people must undersatand is that i would love to play them tunes again but the only peeps who would be interested are 30 odd year olds. Now I do not wish to cause offence but why would I wanna dj and have to look at a load of 30 odd year old women who caned it back in the day and look rough as fukk, when I can play on my ableton and cop for a load of 20 year old hotties. Its common sense surely, lookin at a lovely pert breasts or lookin at 30 odd year olds with teeth fallin out. Now amelie might be one of the lucky ones, comin out the other side with her looks but one lady doesnt make a bath full and i have big bottles of fizz to get through.
Hope fully some time in the future i will play them tunes but I will have to wait till the prices of em come down as i cant afford 60 pound for technoage
Take it easy;)
